There’s something very interesting about seafood and why it attracts people. Be it on a holiday to a beach city or an exquisite holiday location we always set our eyes for fresh and delicious seafood. I’m an ardent fan of seafood, not just because I’m used to eating a lot of fish from my childhood as I’m from Kerala. It’s also because of the seemingly endless varieties of delicious cuisines it offers and with each bite into seafood invokes thoughts of radiant skies and ravishing beaches. We picked Hyderabad’s finest seafood restaurant Ocean’s Basket in Banjara Hills. The location of the restaurant and entrance are creepy but it has pleasant interiors with a huge glass pane dividing the kitchen and the diner. This gives an incredible view to the huge line up of seafood on display, just like you have entered a posh fish market. The chefs stand right behind this and they grab the fish from the table right as you order. Such an incredible sight! Lots of confusion on the menu, so we picked the easiest option, a Seaside Platter. This was one wise decision as for men, it saved a lot of time of picking each and every dish. So the restaurant took care of the platter and served few dishes separately in multiple formats. The Red snapper was cooked in Chinese styled while the Pomfret and Prawns were Tandoor styled. All were absolutely delicious and the most important of all, that huge Lobster! I had tried lobster very few times in my life and this was absolutely mind blowing! I know these are unbelievably expensive, but believe me the huge platter costed me only ₹3000 with all these fish and isn’t a steal deal?.Ambience-3/5Service-4.5/5Food-5/5Value for money-5/5
A couple kilometers from LV Prasad eye hospital, this place boasts of excellent sea food and I agree to it! Absolutely loved the welcome drink which was a prefect blend of pineapple juice, so much so that I had to ask for another one. We had ordered Squid and Pomfret tandoor. Squid could have been better but the pomfret was the overall winner and brownie points for serving the sizzling dish.Ambience is cozy and love the decor, also they have an open kitchen.
A lot of children (and adults) struggle with the idea of seafood. Being an eclectic blend of cultures, religions and historic structures, the city of Hyderabad caters to the needs of all taste buds for all age groups. It might lack mesmerizing beaches accompanied by breezes but it certainly hosts some of the exceptional sea-food places. Whether you’re a local or an out-of-towner, Hyderabad has a couple of outlets that deserve a visit for their fresh and flavourful seafood. From Japanese to French, Indian and Asian; when it comes to authentic & good seafood in the city, there are options limited to us. From traditional fish dishes to calamari and prawns, every type of seafood offers a totally unique flavor and each one is absolutely delicious. To do complete justice to this idea, Ocean Basket, located in Banjara Hills locality on Road No. 2, is one of the city’s favourite seafood restaurant, solely brought up for giving you some delicious seafood and that ‘home-away-from-home’ feeling to remind you of what it’s like to sit at the family table and share a great meal with your nearest and dearest. Additionally, Ocean’s Basket also completes one year of their successful operations in the city & to celebrate this grandeur event, we visited this place for dinner. Starting with their peach drink which was done really well, we were served with Seafood Noodle soup which had noodles, veggies, squid & prawns well boiled with a pinch of spiciness which gave us the right start to the evening; this soup is surely recommended at this place. Next up was Ceaser Salad; veggies nicely tossed in a Salad dressing with squid, prawns & fish chunks served with assorted veggies which were so nicely done. From hereon we started off with some of their special appetizers like Tandoori Lobster, which had the right marination done all over the fish piece and seeped inside as well and perfectly tandoor’ ed till perfection. Do ask the restaurant folks about the quantity of the fish as this dish is customizable as per the needs of the table. Even Chilly Basil Prawns were nicely cooked with prawns & basil leaves tossed in Wonton sauce along with veggies thereby giving it the right texture and making it a really nice appetizer. Following these were Chinese Pomfret(Roop Chand fish was used in this dish) was served with mint chutney& other sauce dips along with veggies. The marination here was really commendable as the spices had seeped in towards the inside meat of the fish as well thereby maintaining a good balance of flavor on the whole. Again this dish is a highly recommended one for all seafood lovers when you’re at this place; do ask the restaurant folks on the amount of fish as it is sold on a weight basis. Moving onto the mains, we were served Hari Pyaz ki Machi & Jhinga Lababdar with Naan; the jhinga lababdar had the right amount of spices infused into the prawn pieces with a good thick gravy making it a nice sides. Even Hari Pyaz ki Machi was nicely cooked till perfection. Next up was Fish Dum Biryani which was nicely done with the spices well infused in the boneless fish millets and rice; I personally didn’t think fish biryani could turn out so well. Ending the dinner on a sweet note has become a custom and Ocean’s Basket didn’t leave out any stone unturned in terms of innovation. We were served with Coconut Dumplings which had coconut-based rubbery textured dough, on the inside was Milkmaid, jaggery which just melted in our mouths as we consumed them to make a grand end to the dinner. As it was the anniversary celebration of Ocean’s Basket, we were part of the cake cutting ceremony for their successful completion of one year. Kudos to Chef Kailash Kandi, Sarfaraz Ahmed & the entire Team for putting up such a grand table with such delectable dishes & looking forward to more such events of Ocean’s Basket. Truly we were all smiles after such a grand event & couldn’t ask for a better evening.
It is a very warm and cosy place. Not too big, not too noisy. But the food is A-MA-ZING!!!You can get a variety of sea food options here and so many different styles of preparations. The service is fantastic and the staff is courteous. The menu can be a bit confusing but don’t fret, just ask for Satyajit and he will recommend you the best dish that suits your platter.Best sea food restaurant in Hyderabad in all respect. A must visit place if you are into sea food.
Probably only seafood restaurant in Hyderabad. Read reviews on zomato and tried this place on a Sunday. Small place and fully occupied. Kids enjoyed the Welcome drink. Ordered chilli basil prawns and it was good. Fish and chips for kids which they liked. Felt the fish was over fried. For the Main course we went for fish Rohini with steamed rice and it was pleasant. Satyajit served us well.
If you love seafood this is the place. We had tandoori prawns, haryali fish tikka and pan grilled pomfret for starters. Bhunna jhinga with tandoori rotis and butter garlic naan for the main course. All were excellently recommended by Satyajeet our server and we didn’t regret listening to him. Will come back soon for sure.Additionally, when they came to know we were celebrating moms birthday the chef whipped up a coconut dumpling and caramel custard desert for her to cut. We and specially my mom left the place very happy. This speaks volumes about the chef and his team and their belief in ensuring the customer has a memorable experience.
