I am a die hard lover of street food and that demands for total sacrifice of any expectation of proper hygiene. But this place gave me goosebumps and not just once. My mom and me found the place empty and thought of trying it out. We made payments for sambar idly and set dosa and took a table. It took them about 15 minutes to get the set dosa done and on the plate. I utilized this time looking around. It is a well designed place turned into a tiffin centre. The effort to keep the place clean was visible but not enough. The tables were wiped but only at places, leaving patches of stains here and there.I was called when the set dosa were ready. I got both the orders together. The idly was very good. The sambar was nice and slightly spicy but watery. The set dosas were served with sambar and coconut chutney. The chutney was bland while the dosa lacked the fluffiness and were very oily. I would have at least gone for a coffee or tea after this but I changed my mind midway through the meal. As we ate, we watched one of the staff carry the soiled glasses to the hand wash basin, wash them in plain water and place it on top of the water cooler along with the unused glasses. Further, he just turned around the used glasses that had been kept on the cooler. Now I doubt if any of those glasses were unused/clean. Again, the spoon steriliser wasn’t switched on and the spoons were placed in cold water into which people were dipping their fingers in search of spoons. These and few more similar sights were enough to make me rethink about any further orders. We were out of the place asap with no plans of coming back again.
