An average good restaurant in a good hotel in Varanasi; as usual the food was good (both a la carte and buffet) and gluten free options were available. The staff was gentle and helpful. The only thing that didn’t impress was the location, but they are renewing the whole building so it’s just a matter of time ☺️
We were there to have a quick dinner on mom’s birthday. So Chowk is part of multiple restaurant at Taj Gateway. There was buffet on so we had soups, grilled fish, chicken Tikka as started, grill fish can be improved. I really liked the chicken in the main course, buffet is not vast they can improve upon, high point is the staff, they are very courteous, helpful and take care of each table well
The hotel is a great place to go and spend some time apart from the restaurant. We went for lunch well my first impression wasn’t so good as nobody even cared when we entered. We sat by ourselves at a table with the garden view. The tables were dirty with all the dried up curry stains. Order took almost 1hour .we ordered BHUNA GHOST CURRY which was wonderful and rotis which are really perfect. Then we ordered CHICKEN BIRYANI which was not at all BIRYANI that u would expect from TAJ .it was just boiled chicken with masala rice and the portion did look for a CHILD . BIRYANI WAS A NO! Later we ordered TIRAMISU which tasted good but to my horror instead of an the soft coffee soaked lady fingers they added biscuit crumbs which was a good idea but it tasted differently. Over all not a 5star experience.
If you want to experience luxurious food then tajjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjj is the best place to experience it.i have ordered baby corn pasta paneer lababdar and basket of bread and ras malai.type- luxuriousvery expensive
Just read this once you will get to know the truth.Worst lunch buffet I ever had , price is more than 1500 indian rupees for lunch buffet , starters are not provided in lunch buffet , only 1 paneer sabji was in lunch buffet which was also bad ,other north indian curries were also bad , no shakes are given in the lunch buffet, and it was self service , breads (roti and naan) were provided separately by waiters but their waiter service was very slow , they were serving like 2 chapati to 20 people in 10 minutes ,it seemed like they were handling customers first time .Desserts variety was also limited and desserts also had okk okk taste.Even if we talk about ambience of taj Ganges , which was okkish , as I was expecting something royal or unique . I won’t recommend anybody to go there.
Chowk has one of the best spreads for breakfast and lunch buffet.Staff s humble enough to serve you the best.I had* fruits* sprouts* watermelon juice* idli sambhar – best of all* masala dosa – coconut chutney had unique flavour* sweet lassi* chhaach* desserts – lavish menu* cappuccino – it is my all time favourite* cold coffeeWould love to visit Chowk again specifically for my favourite cappuccino.
Chowk has a good spread for breakfast and extremely friendly and helpful service.Freshly made omelettes can be ordered. Flattened rice with peas is good too. Excellent mango yogurt and warm and juicy gulab jamun make for a sweet ending
