I came here to satisfy my hunger pangs ,with zero expectations. Unfortunately that was also not satisfied. I ordered chicken Kali mirch , biryani , parantha and ice cream.The chicken Kali mirch was too chilly that the janta with me was unable to eat. Some how I ate it as I was hungry. The parantha took a lot of time to reach us.Then we ordered biryani which took ages to come. The air conditioning is a show piece, there is no cooling.in between of this eating drama , the electricity went out , we were sweating and it’s hard to enjoy the food in such condition.Will not go there to eat again.
I remember i ate in this restaurant about 25 years back when we were travelling to Nanitaal from Kolkata and we had done a break journey at Lucknow. This restaurant is near to the Charbaugh railway station, below Mohan Hotel. As soon as i reached there, i could reminiscence the taste of chicken kali mirch and ordered the same. To my surprise the taste was exactly the same as i remembered. Mind-blowing is the word!! As i discussed my story with the old waiter, he happily called the cook and shared the secret recipe with me so that i can make it at home..
It’s a place you would not be advised by outsiders , it’s a place that would be recommended by a second generation Lucknavi . The food over here has a flavor consisting an amalgamation of of both, a highway dhaba cuisine and an awadhi cuisine. Try the chicken Kali Mirch and special recommendation would be butter chicken with roti. Butter chicken over here consists of dollops of butter, a little shredded cheese and soft big chunks of chicken in Indian gravy. It’s a delight and generous quantity are served. The main guy is pretty friendly, the person who takes order is also a no nonsense kind of guy.Not really a place for ambiance though. and tandoor items are not that great. over all a foodie’s delight and low on pocket.
I visited this place on a recommendation by a friend staying in Lucknow for years. He said, Go and experience it’s chicken kalimirch. I was short On time and because of its proximity to Lucknow station, I went and ordered for same. It was awesome to say the least.. Though, this place doesn’t have the ambience or flair on offer but the above mentioned dish they make is right up there on quality and taste. Go and taste one of the best chicken kalimirch you will ever have. Cheers!!
