Oh! Calcutta is a great place to try and experience authentic Bengali cuisine. Very extensive menu and we were there to try out the newly additions. Service is immaculate and waiting staff very helpful at explaining dishes. We ordered numerous dishes and were not disappointed with any of them – all were served piping hot and especially they told us to enjoy the starters while it is hot and truely it was so good, the taste, aroma and the crispiness of the Fish roll. The fish just melted in my mouth, the fish roll consists of (Bhetki rolls with a stuffing of Flaky Fish and Shrimps, flavoured with garam masala and crumb fried) Highly recommended. The other starters which were my favourite were : POSTO NARKEL TIKKI(Pan grilled poppy seed dumplings with fresh coconut and chillies) and DHAKAI MURGI BHAJA (Pan grilled chicken flavoured with onion, garlic and hand pounded coriander)I recommend both these starters to you guys.Along with it, I extremely loved the BHETKI PATISHAPTA which is basically pan grilled pan cakes filled with minced bhetki, spiced with ginger. Loved how delicious this dish turned out to be. Tried and heard something for the first time here at Oh!Calcutta and was craving for more of this. Then for the main course we ordered : Simple Rice, Daal, Jhur-Jhure Aloo Bhaja and Gota Masalar Lal Murgi. The chicken dish was the star of the lunch. It was prepared with hung curd marinated slow cooked tender chicken flavoured with red chilies and whole spices. This is an Old Kitchen Delicacy and truely it was so delectable in taste. I thouroughly relished this particular dish.Lastly, it was time for the desserts :Baked Patishapta my favourite amongst all (In Bengal, poush sankranti, is celebrated by making the most wondrous of sweets—the pithe(Baked Patishapta is one of them). This is a term used to describe a variety of items prepared using rice, date-palm syrup (patali gur, only available in winter). It is a light crêpe filled with either kheer or a coconut-and-gur mixture. With them the other two are also my favourite sweets which are gulab jamun or pantua and icecream , topped with caramel sauce and nuts.Overall, love this place and the food everytime i pay a visit here. Also, their service and hospitality is top notch and you can also avail the buffet here. We trief the a la carte menu and loved almost everything.
Along with compulsory homemade pithes, Oh! Calcutta fortunately made my experience complete with a wholesome, soft, sweet and jaggery filled Baked Patishapta that was topped with kheer and jhola gur! How mesmerising is that! PAW UP for the entire collection of @ohcalcuttaindia . Of my favorite dishes from Oh! Calcutta had to be this fish roll which melts in your mouth into Rui fishy along with super soft shrimps and makes the whole experience so much royal and worth craving for. Must Try also: phulkopi aam paturi, Pabda patishapta
Oh! Calcutta never fails to impress me with their amazing delicacies and hospitality. They have a wide range of menu serving authentic Bengali delicacies and recently they have added some more items to their menu. The ambience here represents Bengali culture with Rabindra Sangeet playing in the background. Recently visited this outlet with my friends and tried their newly added items to their menu.First at the starters we tried1. Phoolkopi Aam Kashundi Paturi- So we Bengali love our traditional Bhetki Paturi, right? So this is something new that they have curated for all the vegetarians out there. Cauliflower marinated in a mango mustard and nigella seeds paste and then wrapped in banana leaf. This really tastes different and a must must try from this place.2. Bhetki Patishaptha- Patishaptha season is here and Oh! Calcutta never fails to impress you with their amazing delicacies. This time other than having the traditional mainstream Patishaptha do try this out. I gurantee you guys will love this one from this place. Instead of filling the pancakes with Coconut or kheer filling they filled it with chunky Bhetki filling. Again a must try from Oh! Calcutta.3. Dhakai Murgi Bhaja- This one is my favorite from this place. Chicken flavoured with garlic, onion and hand pounded Coriander and then pan grilled. It has a very distinct and prominent flavors. In the main course we had Steamed rice accompanied with daal, aloo bhaja and4. Pyazkoli Pabda- Butter Fish simmered in a flavourful broth with mustard, nigella seeds and pyazkoli.5. Gota Masalar Lal Murgi- Chicken flavoured with whole spices, red chillies and marinated with hung curd and then slow cooked. The chicken pieces were soft and tender and was a bit spicy.6. Baked Patishaptha- Patishaptha filled with Coconut, Date and topped with kheer then baked. Best way to end the meal.Do visit Oh! Calcutta and try out their amazing newe delicacies.
Dropped in here for lunch yesterday and was happy to see some new inclusions in their menu so thought of giving those a try.Posto Norkol Tikki,Fish Roll,Bhetki Patishapta and Dhakai Murgi Bhaja were really delicious.Loved the Fish Roll and Bhetki Patishapta from the lot. The fish roll had a layer of fish with a stuffing of minced shrimps inside and crumb fried. The Bhetki Patishapta just blew me away with mild flavours. Thin pancakes with bhetki, spiced with ginger.Gota Masalar Lal Murgi with Steamed rice was fantastic. Tender chicken pieces with bone flavoured with red chillies and whole spices. For the dessert Baked Patishapta was lovely.Pancakes stuffed with grated coconut, kheer and jaggery was love. The service was great and the food no doubt is fabulous.
One of the most upscale restaurant in the town to serve Bengali cuisine, it didn’t disappoint one bit in any aspect. The behavior of the staff was top notch. The ambience is just perfect. You as a big group can enjoy a nice and cozy feeling. Coming to food, you wouldn’t have much scope to complain about. Must try includes Bhetki gondhoraj, Dhakai murgi bhaja, Aam kashundi kakra, Aam tel ilish (comes along with flavoured rice). Pressure cooker mutton was also very tasty. All in all a special experience as a whole. The food is oozes class and do the decor.
