Visited this cafe on Christmas eve! It’s a pretty cafe but the prices are bit on a higher side. Nonetheless, as me and my friend were very hungry since morning so first we took one traditional English breakfast platter. The Platter was very filling and we took chicken sausage which tasted really amazing! And then we took, stuffed chicken breast in misone. The quantity was pretty much ,& it was ample for 2persons. The stuffed chicken was really delicious!Only con is,it’s a bit expensive.
Caution: If live music is not quite your thing, it’s not a place to be on weekend evenings. Moreover, we felt (I and my three friends) the volume was so loud for the dining area where the stage was, that it was impossible for us to follow each other’s words. The management must do something regarding the volume. It’s bad if the guests can’t have a conversation because of live music. There’s no music on weekdays. The decor is modern, vibrant and interesting. There are chairs, high stools and sofa to suit various comfort needs. It has a bookshelf wherefrom you can take a book and read at your table. A much appreciable feature!Coming to food and beverages, we ordered:1. Chicken in Honey Barbecue2. Lemon Ice Tea3. English Breakfast Tea4. Fish ‘n’ Chips5. Chicken Pasta in Arrabiata Sauce6. Chicken Pasta in Alfredo SauceThe honey barbecue sauce on 6-8 medium boneless pieces of chicken was delicious and made for a good start. The dash of honey gave its spiciness a nice sweetish tweak. The chicken could be more tender and juicy though. The fried fish was good and the tartare sauce was well made. Nonetheless the fish didn’t seem to be Bhetki, which we expected at that price (Rs 590 for 2 pieces). The lemon tea was perfect in taste and served in a large glass. The English Breakfast Tea was Darjeeling tea served in a teapot with a cookie. Our choice of pasta was fettuccine, served with two slices of garlic toast. The pasta was delectable! I ordered the one in Alfredo sauce and the rich sauce (made with Parmesan cheese as stated) embraced the pasta so well that I felt it in every bite. Savoury taste was finely balanced, allowing the creaminess take the centrestage. The chicken was in small quantity but and I hardly found it in my serving.Red sauce pasta is not my thing, still I took a few spoonfuls of Chicken Pasta in Arrabiata Sauce. It was surprisingly good! Delightfuly spicy but not overpowering with tomato. The quantity of chicken was less as in the other variety. However, the food is overpriced indeed (A plate of pasta which isn’t enough for two costs Rs 515 plus tax). Also they added a service charge (for service like the live music etc, the staff disclosed upon asking) much to our displeasure! We refused to pay it and had it deducted (Because as per government rules, paying service charge is as per discretion of guests). kolkatacurry.blogspot.com
Great ambienceOver priced foodBand performance during evening hoursThey dont accept cards for the goodies they sell which btw are expensiveThe food is good especially desserts like white chocolate cheesecake and creme brulee which I didn’t understand why they were serving with blueberry extract. The pizza was thin crust but the base was soft and seemed stale.
I went here last week. Well it is a beautiful place. There are various books and bookish goodies sold too. But they do not accept card which is not mentioned. They only accept it for food. Nevertheless I had white chocolate cheesecake which was good, pizza , creme brulee and affogato. They dont serve lunch menu before 12 noon even if you go at 11:55. Anyway the desserts came in quickly but the pizza took time. The ambience in the morning hours is gloomy. They have live bands at night I think. The food is really over priced. Anyway the quality is good but the pizza base was kinda stale. Do visit during evening hours.
This is one of those places that gives you a warm cozy feeling. The place is also not difficult to locate. The interiors are nicely done, there are fun games like Jenga and boardgames which one could play with friends and live music to set your weekend mood just right. They also have an in-house community library which I believe is just great for bibliophiles. The food tastes well and the staff is courteous.Food- 3/5Ambience- 4/5Hospitality- 4/5Value for money- 4/5
If you want to enjoy a nice time quietly with a book then this is your place. If you want to have a nice chat with your friends in a comfy bean bag chair then this is your place as well. Like cute novelties? Buy them on spot from their collection. This is a place with good food and ambience to suit all kinds of needs.
