Sankalp restaurant is a very popular for their south indian food and they have 153 outlets all over the world. Most of us know that they have a Guinness book record of making 53 feet dosa. Sankalp is located at the Godrej building near college more , saltlake. We were 4 people so we at first opted for their dosa challenge in which they are giving a 4feet dosa if you able to finish it with its filling and sambar within 90 seconds ; it will be free of cost. If you failed to do so then also they are giving a 33% discount. The dosa was crisp, soft and very tasty. Chutneys were extremely pleasant, spiced and tangy, perfect for accompanying, but the best was the sambar it was one of the best I ever tried. Other than that we tried pongal unlimited thali which consists of rice, rassam, sambhar, poori, appal papad etc and tastes really good. Price of the thali is 299/- which is very reasonable.
Tried this place a few days back as I had heard a lot about their dosa challenge, I tried the same too and loved it. Also the thali they have is amazing and the service is upto the mark as well. You too can try their dosa challenge. The place looks amazing and the service is great too.
Sankalp is well known around the country for its extravagantly huge Dosas also breaking the Guinness Book of World Record for the lengthiest Dosa.I was here a few days back to try my luck for the Dosa Challenge along with my friend. Both of us took the challenge and had to finish a 4-ft Dosa along with the filling and Sambhar in 3 minutes to get the Dosa Complimentary. For a single person if he/she is unable to finish one gets a flat 50% off on the price of the Dosa which comes around INR 450. For 2 and 3 people a discount of 44% and 33% respectively will be given if the challenge is lost. Also loved the Pongal Thali which comes with numerous dishes: Puri,Rice,Curd Rice,Halwa,Rassam,Sambhar,Papad,Khichdi,Sabzi and so on. All these dishes are unlimited and costs just INR 299! The food has an authentic South Indian Flavour and loved the dishes that I had.
Sankalp is a destination for some amazing north indian and south indian dishes. Nested in sector V, it offers pocket friendly combo meals for the vegetarians and office goers. Their coconut paan and dosa is my favourite. I recommend Sankalp strongly for maintaining their consistency throughout the year. Congratulations for completing a Year Sankalp. Keep up the good work.
Congratulations to Sankalp Kolkata for completing it’s 1st-anniversary and it has included 5 new items to their menu. the new items are -Idly MedleyChocolate Dosa Spooky DosaRawa BiscuitKebab ShotsI tried all the new items with my friends and I had my doubts about the chocolate dosa but the moment I tasted it I was completely in love with the preparation. I liked the Rawa Biscuits too. small fried idlis with masala fillings that made it so wholesome and tasty. Of course, there is the four feet long dosa, one of the largest dosas I have ever seen, And Sankalp holds the Guinness book of world record for creating the largest dosa ever. They have a very interesting game going on. Visit with your friends and you have to finish the Dosa along with 2 of your friends in 3 minutes and the entire dosa isn’t going to be charged for. I loved the first time and definitely going back for more.
Sankalp has just completed it’s one year anniversary, because of which it has introduced five new dishes. So we went to try all these new dishes and their special 4 feet long dosa.1. Food- I am not a big fan of South Indian food, but I enjoyed each and every dish they served. The five new items, which we tried were-• Kebab Shots- These were not like normal kebas that we always have. These were made of rice flour, which gives them a crunch.• Spooky Dosa- Crispy dosa with secret blend of spices, arranged in cylindrical way, filled with cheese and other fillings, with French fries as toppings.• Rava Biscuit- Crispy Rava dosa slices made to perfection with cheese and veggies.• Idly Medley- Idly mixed with sambar dal and sliced into small pieces, and then served in a small basket of iddyaapam. The presentation was so beautiful, and so was the taste.• Chocolate Dosa- We always go for same desserts, like brownie with hot chocolate ice cream or Darshan or firni or shahi tukda. Its time to give your taste bud something different, have this chocolate dosa and you will surely love this one.• The 4 ft. long dosa- Sankalp is the only place in Kolkata that serves you a 4 feet long dosa. Visit Sankalp with your friends, complete this dosa within 3 minutes with one of your friend, and you don’t have to pay for the dosa. If you can’t finish it within 3 minutes with any one of your friend, sorry, but you have to pay ₹900 for the dosa then.Their quality of food is no doubt great.Rating: 5/52. Ambience- The place is located in Godrej Waterside. The ambience is cool and calm. Not a huge place, but can hold upto 30 people. The theme was completely South Indian, even the staffs were wearing dhoti and punjabi/kurta.Rating- 3/53. Service- Their hospitality was no doubt great. They were quite humble and helpful.Rating- 5/5
After visiting this restaurant in Melbourne..I was excited to have this chain in Kolkata! Finally all Salt Lake residents will have a new place to indulge in some authentic south indian food. Effective service, delicious food and well lighted restaurant..what else you could ask for! Ideal restaurant to visit with family or large groups.P.S. the above review is solely based on the south indian food we tried.. however will definitely go back to taste the north Indian cuisine too.Personal favourite- Uttapam (one of the best & lightest Uttapam I have ever had!!)
