One of the most unique opportunities I have ever had as a foodblogger in 2018 has to be The Taste of SULA Life – Food and Wine pairing workshop by Sula Vineyards academy, hosted by The Sonnet. The workshop started off with a brief history of Sula, and we were introduced to the variety of grapes grown in the vineyards of Nasik. We learnt-•The basic difference in the manufacturing process of white wine and red wine• Health benefits of red wine• Introduction to understanding of the dryness and sweetness of a wine• An understanding about the body of the wine. • How to consume wine to enjoy it to the fullestThe session proceeded with pairing of different kinds of dishes with different wines made mainly from the Sauvignon Blanc, Chenin Blanc, Chardonnay and Mosaic grapes. The Sparkling Wine, Sula Brut Rose was paired with Fungi Fritti with Tomato Salsa. It is a dry wine and the mushroom made a startlingly good contrast to the palette. The salsa sauce was rich in tomato and spices. The White Wine, Sula Riesling was served with Gnochhi in Creamy Cheese Sauce. The wine was much less dry and had a fruitier note. Being a light wine, the even light flavoured Gnochhi doesn’t overpower the wine. The white sauce was creamy, and the Gnochhi pasta melted in the mouth. The Red Wine, Sula Dindori Reserve had a heavier body that had to many dimensions in the taste of the wine. Served with the Kidney Pie that has a nice cheese crust with minced chicken and mutton in a heavy sauce, this wine added to the flavours of the dish. The Dessert Wine, Sula Late Harvest Chenin Blanc was paired with Berries Cheese Cake. Cheese cakes have always been my favourite and the wine just amplified the taste manifold. It had a hint of orange, ginger and honey, but the taste was simply sweet. This wine makes for the perfect ending to any feast!

Wine tasting session organised by SULA WINE ACADEMY and food prepared by UNWINE AURA THE SONNETI was present in Aura for my very first wine tasting session. It was indeed a new experience for me. I was very happy because Unwine provided me with some great food . My review is based mostly on the food as wine is not something I like .We were served the following varities of wines paired with a dish each seperately1. Sprakling Wine- Sula Brut Rose served with Fungi Fritti with Tomato Salsa. It was full of tiny bubbles which is the carbon dioxide oxide . Strong grape flavours .The paired item was Fungi Fritti which are actually mushroom appetizer . Crunchy and crispy mushroom balls dipped in a tomato salsa . This vegetarian appetizer can easily win a non vegetarians heart .2.White wine- Sula Riesling served with Gnochhi in Creamy Cheese Sauce.White wine has less acidity than red or sparkling wine hence it is paired with cheesy dishes . It has a strong peach flavour along with grapefruit and green apples .Gnocchi in creamy sauce was a bit bland for me. The cheese came was overpowering somehow I didn’t like it much .3.Red wine- Sula’s Dindori Reserve Shiraz served with Kidney Mutton Pie.Red wine as we know is the most common form of wine and has a lot of health benefits if consumed one glass per day . This needs to be swirled which enhances the taste. It was paired with the best ever meat pie . The pic consisted of minced chicken and mutton topper with the kidney of a chicken. I finished the whole pie as I loved it a lot. It was baked to perfection .4. Dessert Wine- Sula Late Harvest Chenin Blanc served with berries cheesecake .The wine had the aromas of mango ,honey and tropical fruits . Honey flavour was really dominating. The cheesecake paired with the wine had a stunning colour which you can see in the photos. It was soft fresh cheesy and perfectly creamy . It was the best end to this experience of mine .People who know me knows that wine is definitely not something I ever had before so this was indeed a new experience for me .Thank you panchphoron for this and Sula for inviting me to this unique event .

Sula is India’s leading wine company and is leading the charge of Indian wine across the wine world.Recently I got a chance to a attend their annual wine appreciation session organized by Sula wine academy. It was a great learning experience. We got to learn about few main things -1. The main types & styles of wine2. The characteristics of the principle grape varieties.3. How to serve & store wine.4. The basic principles of food & wine pairing.Simultaneously we were presented with 4 different types of wines paired with the perfect food on side -• Sparkling wine – Sula Brut RoseFood – Fungi Fritti with Tomato SalsaSula brut rose is prepared from the perfect blend of Pinot Noir, Chenin Blanc and Riesling. It is packed with millions of tiny bubbles in every sip. This wine is crafted in the true “Méthode Champenoise” style. It is dry and crisp on pallate. This was paired well with crispy Fungi fritti with Tomato salsa. The Fungi fritti were mushrooms that were coated in a batter and fried to provide a beautifully crisp outer layer and the soft mushroom inside it. The crispiness of the dish complimented the wine very well..• White wine – Sula RieslingFood – Gnochhi in Creamy Cheese SauceBoth the smell and the taste of Sula Riesling points out that it is a fruity aromatic wine with hints of green apples, grapefruit, peach & honey. It is served chilled. This is definitely less drier than the Sula Brute rose and was sweet on the palate. It was paired with Gnocci in creamy cheese sauce. The gnochhi were soft like a pillow, which just melt in the mouth. The cheese sauce was perfectly creamy and delicious. The cheese from the sauce were a perfect compliment to the wine..• Red wine – Sula Dindori Reserve ShirazFood – Kidney Mutton PieGrown on the red hills of Dindori estate and barrel-aged in American oak. The beautiful colour of the red wine was very alluring.Dindori Reserve Shiraz is a powerful, intense wine, with flavours of berries and vanilla and a long pleasing finish. It was paired perfectly with a kidney mutton pie, made with minced chicken and mutton kidney. Topped with a cheesy crust and a liver on top it off. This meaty dish perfectly complimented the intense flavours of red wine..• Dessert wine – Sula Late Harvest Chenin BlancFood – Berries Cheese CakeThis award winning wine is abound with aromas of mango, honey and tropical fruit. It is perfect to end a delicious meal. This wine has a unique sweetness with pairs well with any desserts. We were served a classic blueberry cheesecake along with this wine. The cheesecake was perfectly soft and had a buttery crust which just melt in the mouth..Apart from tasting so many varieties of wine and food pairs, we also learnt a lot about the history of Sula, how the wine is prepared and served. We were also provided with a certificate at the end of the sessions. Thank you Unwine for hosting us.

A good place to unwind with company. The classic virgin mojito and the peach virgin mojito were both extremely refreshing and balanced. Loved both of them. The fruity drinks are not disappointing either.
