Been here around a few months back. Residing at Old Court House Street, Dalhousie Square. Lalit Great Eastern is a popular name in the 5-Star Category of Hotels. The restaurant Alfresco is located on the ground floor of Lalit. The ambience of this place is a classy one. The restaurant is set in a elegant white theme. Glass rooftop and beautiful art decorations makes this place an iconic one. There is a small lotus pond located next to the dining space that provides a soothing view to your dining experience. The staffs were courteous but the service was a little slow. And if you have tried some more premium buffets then the this one might feel a little bit smaller in comparison to those.Starting with :The salad and cheese counter was pretty good with various veg and non-veg salads, three different kind of cheeses. Two type of fruit juices were available and the bread section was humongous too.The starters were very limited; one non-veg, chicken item and one veg, aloo pakoda item.Grilled items ; such as the grilled fish and chicken tasted delicious. Availability of ham, pork, turkey, salami and bacon made the buffet more appetising.Although the biryani and fried rice tasted very ordinary, the chicken and mutton preparation were heavenly (Till now the best mutton we tasted)The dessert counter was extremely good. There were around 10-12 different varieties of desserts. Although the options were less compared to other 5-Star Restaurants, but the desserts tasted extremely delicious. They had 6 different flavours of ice-cream with various toppings and each of them tasted flavourful.Although the pricing was cheaper compared to other 5-Star Restaurants, the food options were limited too. This place is surely recommended for a fine dining experience and good food.

Visited this place with my friends and family during last Durga Puja. We opted for the buffet menu. We were a bit late so we missed the live counter. The food was amazing, I really loved the biryani it was so light and fresh. The desserts were too good. The ambience is great as well. We really had a soothing great experience. Love to visit this place again.

The longest running luxury hotel, not only in India, but in Asia, with its 165 years of history, the erstwhile Auckland Hotel is what we now know as The Lalit Great Eastern. With a reputation and fame edged in the pages of history and memory books, this hotel has been graced by numerous eminent personalities and proudly hosts the iconic Great Eastern Bakery which still happens to be the talk of the town.Alfresco, its in-house luxury restaurant, which is an epitome of the erstwhile Victorian and Edwardian style, strives to balance with the contemporary touch by offering world class cuisine with a local touch. It is all decked and geared up to celebrate the upcoming festivities of Durga Puja, by offering an elegant list of mouthwatering cuisines matched with an unforgettable experience. Being so close to the heart of almost every people residing in Kolkata, Durga Puja ushers in magnitudes of joy and waves of fun.People venture out to the Puja pandals, and with it adds up the unmatchable and undeniable hunger and thirst of food-hopping. The very essence of eating out with your friends, family and closed ones is very hard to pen down or describe in words. And what best, to enjoy multitude of the finest cuisine Bengal has to offer, showcasing the rich heritage of our Bengali cuisine. Some of the finest delicacies will be offered here, paired up with an ambiance and experience like no other. We were fortunate enough to have a glimpse and preview of some of the dishes which would be up for grabs. We started off with a welcome Tetul aar Aamer shorbot, followed by starters comprising of various kind of fritters. The Gondhoraj Macher Chop, Narkel Mochar Chop struck a note on the palette post which we opted to have two salads, one having dim shedhdho or boiled eggs and chichinge, and another a vegetarian salad having Korola bhaja, Lau shedhdho and dhonepata.Moving to the mains, something which really surprised was the Taler Chenar Kofta, Bhapa Potoler Dom and Sajne data daler bora chingrir torkari. Three of the standout dishes, the former had a regular ball made out of ‘tal’, with the twist of chena stuffed inside it, and then cooked like a smooth and silky kofta. The Bhapa potoler dom was a treat to the tastebuds with the wonderful essence of poppy seeds and the cashew paste. The last one, sajne data daler bora chingrir torkari really took us with surprise. I have the privilege of having sajne data combined with many other ingredients, but never with prawns or shrimps. For those loving crabs, try the Kakra golmorich Malai curry, Kala bhuna Chittagong for Mutton lovers and Asto rosun diye Murgir Mangsho for those who want a Chicken preparation out of the box.For desserts, we tried the jumbo sized Komola Bhog, Dry Fruit Chikki and Kheer Samosa. A lovely way to end the meal, you can try Thandai Tiramisu or the Chocolate Camphor Opera, if you would prefer something different with a fusion touch.Following is the full menu, which would be put up as a buffet from the 4th of October, 2019 to the 7th of October, 2019 for Lunch, Dinner and Midnight Buffet.BeveragesMawa aur Chironji ka shakeTetul aar Aamer shorbotStarter – VegetarianLal saag aar Kumror chopNarkel Mochar ChopStarter – Non VegetarianGondhoraj Macher ChopAam Kasundi Pora Mangsher Murgir ChopSalad – VegetarianJhinge bhaja aar Aloo diye saladKorola bhaja aar Lau shedhdho dhonepatar saladPora kumro aar borbotir saladSalad – Non VegetarianDimshedhdho aar Chichinger saladPora Mangsho aar Kacha Aam diye saladBhaja Maach aar Mushumbi diye saladMains – VegetarianMahuraMochar Jhal ChorchoriTaler Chenar KoftaChalkumro dudh torkari chapor diyeBhapa potoler domThorer ghontoMains – Non VegetarianKathal bij aar chingrir JhalSajne data daler bora chingrir torkariKala bhuna ChittagongAsto rosun diye Murgir MangshoBoro begun diye Pabdar JhalKakra golmorich Malai curryMejbani MangshoMurshidabadi Murgh BiryaniStapleKancha Moonger Dal, Aam adaSada BhaatAkhmir joler niramish pulaoLuchiCholar DalDessertKomola BhogButterscotch SandeshIcecream BarfiChom ChomDry Fruit ChikkiGurer talshash sandeshKheer samosaThandai TiramisuChocolate Camphor Opera#durgapuja #puja #puja2019 #durgapuja2019 #buffet #eatout #festival #fun #petpujo #alfresco #lalit #greateastern #earlybird #discount #offer #mouthwatering #lalitgreateastern #whenstomachtickles facebook.com
