This place is only for bachelors at night. I went there once at around 9pm recently and whole surrounding looked like some festival is going on.But soon I understood that the place actually consists dance bars – 6 in total. We went into No. 3 and found that place is cozy, well-lit but performance is going on in full swing accompanied with bollywood & punjabi beats. Waiters are courteous, service was good. However music was bit loud and we left after two glasses.
Getting duped by a name isn’t the worst thing that can happen to you in kolkata these days, not by far, specially after the flyover incident. But I think it would be wise to start with a statutory warning that Ar han thai has just about to do with thai as migrating birds have to do with fixed deposits. The menu is chinese, and even so,they go strictly by the menu.regular water isn’t there, and therefore, not served.hygiene wise, ofcourse, that’s not a big concern-we all have learnt to adhere to the safety that comes with packaged mineral water. The interior makes you think this is a work in progress, that you’d find someone anytime escorting you out because the restaurant isn’t finished yet. But,ofcourse, this is a very old establishment, and they occupy most floors of the building. To the food then. Its the one relief we had that day,and the reason for ar han thai getting a pass mark of 2.5. We ordered only two items, out of D’s extreme politeness and ikshvaku/stark-like principle of never leaving a restaurant without ordering something, once he takes the seat.So we had sweet corn soup and chicken chatpata. The food is decent. Not that simulates a ratatouille ending, but one of those kinds where you eat and you know you were just expecting this. And judging by the fact that they had more parcel orders than table orders,I believe the word has been around for a pretty long time-call the place, but don’t show up.
Huge ceilings, beautiful decoration, superb comfortable, in one sentence, ar han thai is a sure go go for hanging out with friends. Dishes are delicious, staffs are helpful and suggestive, ambiance is nice, what more can anyone ask for?!!Alas they only have pudding for dessert, thats one negative point..
Not a place for either family or date or a female friend cause the first and last time I entered it, found out girls performing exotic dance on desi beats. The ambience is huge and the food tastes average here.Won’t say that the prices are low but you can say average. Two guys with food and drinks would end up paying about Rs 1500.The section on the first floor seemed nice with both open and enclosed section for a group booking.
i went to their take way counter at avani mall at howrah. i had grilled chicen in hot basil and veg noodle. the chicken item is spicy and tasty
