Located near Camac Street, this is a Vegetarian Restaurant. The Ambience is simple and the food is good considering the price. Service is also quite quick but one of the Staff behaves in a totally unprofessional way. He doesn’t know how to talk to customers. Giving it 2 stars just because of that Staff, otherwise I would’ve given it 4 stars.
Ushering a new revolution in terms of vegetarian food , Indies have earned my respect with their amazing food even when I am a die-heart meat lover . Vegetarian dishes aren’t just about paneer and potatoes , there are plenty of other options to go for , this has been highlighted on their menu cards as well .Located in Shakespeare sarani , nearest metro being Rabindra Sadan / Maidan this restaurant has cozy sitting arrangements for around 30 people . Unfortunately no parking is available hence public transport will be a better option , it’s few minutes from Camac street bus stop. After reaching the place you will be warmly welcomed by the courteous staffs . Dim lights and music will get you into the mood for your meal .What I tried from their elaborate menu are as follows• Paneer angara : This has been highlighted as one of their signature kebabs as it should be. Paneer kebabs being flambeed in front of your eyes has its own thrill . Paneer portions were very big, cut in triangular shape coated in spicy tomato based marinade served with a few chutneys as a complement . They taste really good .• Turkish borek : Yes this was the first time I tried this item. Borek refers to a filled pastry made of a flaky dough . This one had a filling of potato and mashed veggies , I found it bland . May be the dish itself lacks spices .After these we had our Italian main course starting with• Paneer tikka pizza : One of the best veg pizzas I ever had which had generous amount of panner cubes along with lots and lots of good quality mozzarella cheese and as you know pizzas without good amout of cheese is just a piece of bread .• Arrabiata pasta : Back to back stunning dishes took our mood one step up . Penne pasta in spicy red sauce mixed with ample amount of exotic vegetables . The tangyness of the sauce perfectly balanced the creamyness of the pasta .Let’s move forward to the Indian main course which had the following•Shaam savera : Uptill now our expectations grew with great food being served to the table and this one didn’t disappoint either . It lives out to our expectations as well. One of their unique creations this dish involves paneer coated with mashed spinach and turned into small koftas . These koftas were then finished in a tomato cream based gravy .•Cheese chili olive naan : The koftas were paired with cheese chili olive naan which again requires attention beacuse of its uniqueness . The naan dough was mixed with olives and chillis and then put inside tandoor finally finished with cheese being coated all over it .• Butter naan with paneer butter masala : Another well known combo which doesn’t need much introduction . The butter masala had white buttery gravy with extra cream . It complemented the butter naans which were soft and decent .• Russian mojito and fresh lime soda acted as our thirst quencher throughout our meal . Personally didn’t like the taste of Russian mojito may be because of the presence of some sweet syrup to a large extent . Fresh lime soda was as usual .•Sizzling brownie (home made) : This ended our meal on a sweet note. Brownie served over a sizzler plate with scoops of vanilla ice cream .The taste was good but honestly I had better brownies.Overall a good experience with veg food and nice ambience . Hope they come up with some more surprising new additions to their menu so that people in Kolkata gets to know more and more about vegetarian cuisine .
Indies is a real gem for all the vegetarians and veg food lovers out there. And even if you are not a big fan of vegetarian food this place has the capability to change your mind!Indies is a fine dine restaurant, expertising in multicuisine vegetarian delicacies.Concealed in the lanes of Shakespeare Sarani, the restaurant is easy to locate using the Google Maps. You can use both Rabindra Sadan as well as Maidan Metro Stations. Bus route is not really an option here, and the restaurant also does not provide any car parking. It’s best to get a cab or walk from the nearest metro station. The ambience is really calm and serene. The dim lights and comfortable sofas makes you feel cozy and relaxed. Seating capacity is about 30-35 at a time. Decor is minimal yet extremely classy. Now coming to the food, we started off with theTurkish Borek, it is basically baked filled pastries made of a thin flaky dough. The super thin phyllo sheets are sticked to one another with a mixture of yogurt, eggs and olive oil. The filling is spread in the middle of layers. The stuffing was a bit bland, but the pastry gave it a nice crunch. It was served with a yellow dip and tomato salsa, which went really well with the dish.Next we opted for the Paneer Angara. This dish had a wonderful theatrical pleasure. It was flambeed in front of our eyes using a blow torch. The paneer pieces were coated in a spicy tomato based marinade and it was super sucullent. We then tried the Paneer Tikka pizza, the base was thin and soft, it was topped with ample amount of cheese, veggies and chunks of panner Tikka. The pizza was extremely flavourful and tasty. We also didn’t wanted to miss the delactable Indian main courses. So we ordered Shaam Savera. It was a very innovative dish. The paneer play hide and seek inside the spinach koftas, cooked in a rich and creamy tomato based gravy. It went really well with the Cheese Chilly naan. The naan was loaded with cheese and it tasted delicious just by itself. We also tried the Paneer butter Masala, which is cottage cheese cooked in a luscious gravy made with lots of butter, cream and rich Indian spices. We gulped all of these down with two mocktails – Russian Mojito and Virgin Mojito both were very refreshing. We ended our meal on a sweet note with the all time favourite Sizzling Brownie. A hot brownie topped with a scoop of vanilla icecream on a hot sizzler plate, and then warm chocolate sauce is poured over it to get the sizzling effect. Definitely you can imagine the heavenly taste. We were really impressed with the quality and the quantity of the food. The staffs are polite and hospitable. Overall we were really satisfied with our dining experience at Indies. Weather you are a vegetarian or not, you can definitely try out this place with your family or friends and have great time.
What if we tell you that we have another hidden gem for veg lovers in town.?Indies tucked in the lanes of Shakespeare sarani serves some quality vegetarian food at a reasonable price. This place can accommodate 30 to 35 people at a go and its one of those restaurants which gives you an serene ambience to spend time with your family and friends. The restaurant is decked dim yellow lights and comfy and spacious sofas for large groups too.The menu varies from vegetarian North Indian dishes like Paneer Musallam, Stuffed potatoes, Paneer Angara to Italian like Pastas and pizza’s.We tried out their stuffed potatoes which has an incredibly delicious fillings and had to be the best till date tbh. Another lip smacking combination is the indies special naan with Paneer Musallam. Chunks of paneer dipped in rich creamy gravy and the crispy hot naan is a perfect match if you are in a mood for lunch or dinner.
It doesn’t happen often that a small place makes you feel so comfortable. Indies is a family pure vegetarian restaurant with a seating capacity of 30 – 35 approximately . This place scores a 5 on 5 for food as well as service. Some of the must try here are -Paneer AngaraAmerican Stuffed potatoesMargherita PizzaArrabiata pastaIndies special NaanPaneer MusallamRussian MojitoSizzling Brownie with ice creamThe sizzling brownie was so soft and delicious. It’s a must try.

Just yesterday I had visited this vegetarian restaurant and I just loved it.The place is spacious enough and staff are very friendly.I had tried-Paneer AngaraAmerican Stuffed potatoesMargherita Pizza(Best)Arrabiata pastaIndies special NaanPaneer MusallamRussian MojitoSizzling Brownie with ice cream. All the food quality was really good. Paneer was soft and well marinated. Pizza crust was thin and topping was full of cheese and delicious. Naan was soft and well stuffed. Russian mojito was not like other mojitos we take normally,at the bottom of it a bluberry layer was there which gave it a different flavour. And the brownie was served smoky hot and soft with ice cream.Overall it was a good experience.
