A new bong food player on the court with good grub , Calcutta Canteen is up in arms with the hitherto unchallenged tastebud tickling 6 , Ballygunge Place. The menu has variety but quality wise much more can be done. The quantity is good. The fish cutlet is the best item on the menu.
Went to South City Mall last week and was craving for some pre pujo feast, went to the food court to have these in Calcutta Canteen. They’ve introduced their Pujo Menu Recently.I had these at Calcutta Canteen under The Maha Bhoj Special Menu :Dishes :· Fish kobiraji· Chicken Roll· Kosha Mangsho with Luchi· Prawn Malaicurry with Pulao· Chana Koraishutir Chop· Aam Panna· Fish Fry· Prawn Cutlet· Fish Paturi· Misti DoiFish kabiraji & Fish Cutlet were really crispy & tasty!Not to forget the Luchi & Kosha Mangsho combo, it was just lip smacking!
Calcutta canteenIt’s a new restaurant launched by specially group in the food court of South City Mall. This restaurant serve mostly Bengali cuisine. And you can find hardly one/ two outlet which serve Bengali food in south city. So you can definitely order from this outlet. And the price of items are also reasonable.Food ORDERED by us -· Fish kobiraji – it was delicious as it has to. But I expected not to be oily that much but overall a good experience.· Chana Koraishutir Chop – it was a good starter. a mixture of chana and koraishuti deep fried ! Tasty.· Kosha Mangsho with Luchi – how can you resist something like this combo!! Bengali food is incomplete with kosha mangsho and luchi. Recommend.· Prawn Malaicurry with Pulao – the prawn wellmade with the spices. What it was little bit extra sweet to be honest.· Fish Fry – recommended.· Prawn Cutlet· Fish Paturi· Chicken Roll• misti doi – the best ending of a bangali’s lunch .

Being a bengali i found this joint quite tempting cz it serves authentic Bengali food.It mainly serves thali and combo platters.Luchi with kosha mangsho is a captivating delicacy of bengal which is served here generously.while tasting bengali dish I dint miss the chance of experiencing Chinese also. The fish fry was extremely lip smacking.
