The Pageantry of India’s erstwhile Nizam’s and Nawab’s, this exceptional restaurant is located at 100, Raja Basanta Roy Road, Lake Terrace, Kalighat ( Southern Avenue ) ; vouchsafes to upload the Sovereignty in culinary skills from the Mughal Era.The amalgamation of sophistication and etiquettes of fine taste from the landmarks of ‘ Tehzeeb’, this place reveals insights of faded away recipes which undeniably ingrains the glorious past of Majestic savouries with a twist-infused Global cuisine that’ll surely drive you into a different dimension.♦️➖ We indulged in ➖♦️✅ LITCHI ke KEBAB✅ THALASSERY PRAWN BIRIYANI[ steeped in Persian, Dutch and Syrian style of cooking with ghee, cashew nuts and special spices ]✅ HAZMOLA COLLIN ( Drink )✅ NIMISH ( Dessert )The staffs were extremely cordial and service was really satisfying. The ambiance and the conceptualization is outstanding with marvellous interiors and comfortable accommodation.

This place is well known for their fusion take to their cuisine. From fish kabab marinated in raw mango pulp, to pork biryani , to jama masjid butter chicken they do have unique dishes in their menu. The staff is well trained and very courteous and helped us with the orders.Taste was good but i won’t call is refined. But considering they are providing the fine dining experience at an affordable price, its surely a likeable place!

Omg! What a place! Folks, after you end up reading my review, your very first agenda must be to pay a visit here.We had machhli aur aam papad kebab (a completely new and unique taste I had), JMBC (tender chicken pieces in a yummy buttery gravy). Other 3 items that we had were delicious but their kebab section is a treasury.I am surely going soon for a second time.

I have been meaning to visit The Saffron Tree since its launch in 2018. I had heard of a lot about this place. Naturally when i visited this place, I had many expectations. All the dishes we tried were a mix batch of authentic Kebabs and fusion food, each with a signature taste of its own. For starters we tried Crab meat ki Galawat, Kataifi Achari Prawns, Litchi ke Kebab, and Paan aur Gosht ki Tootak. We are familiar with Galawati Kebab. The Crab Meat ki Galawat takes the same spices but with crab meat and instead of a traditional parantha, it is served in a cone shaped crispy parantha. One bite into the dish and you realise it is a flavour-bomb. The texture of the crab meat is well balanced with the complex spice mix. Litchi ke Kebab was originally invented by chefs in an effort to serve Shuja-ud-Daula, the then Nawab of bengal, some over ripened litchis, they came up with this innovative dish. Nice and juicy litchi skins with a delicious meat-filling. Kataifi Achari prawns is a prawn tandoor with a creamy sauce. Paan aur Gosht ki Tootak is beetle leaves with a mutton keema filling. Both tasted really good. When we think of Hyderabadi Biriyani we think of a spicy treat. But the Hyderabadi Murgh Sofiana, also known as Safaida, is a treat from Hyderabadi Nawabi cuisine which was prepared at royal weddings. Instead of Saffron, almond paste, Gulab Jal (rose extract) and milk is used to flavour the rice. Here the rose extract is made in-house. Each strand of rice had a smell of fresh roses. It is a treat for the soul!TST Special Pork Biryani is a specialty here. We do not find pork in Mughlai or Nawabi cuisine. But here they have seamlessly integrated pork into a cuisine like never before. You can pair the Biriyani with Smoked Bacon Keema Matar or Murg Ki Khagina. Smoked Bacon Keema matar is a spicy dish but the taste is unique. And I would highly recommend this. You can also get Bakarkhani here. This bread originates from Murshidabad, and from my last visit to Dhaka, I know it is still a favourite there. It is the first time I found this dish in Kolkata. The Bakharkhani is actually a parantha but it is sweet.Speaking of sweets, the desserts available here are a mix of the east and the west. The Phirni Creme Brulee was creamier than the usual phirni we get everywhere. The caramelised sugar on top was a perfect addition.Nimish is like tasting the clouds in the sky. Milk and cream churned in cold air to solidify the milk and as the milk condensed, droplets formed within the cream. It tasted heavenly and I would recommend this very much. The cocktails also get a desi touch here. I tried the LIIT and there was a certain spicy twist to it and I did enjoy the take on a classic cocktail. Along with the cocktails, you can also get a variety of mocktails that standout from the rest. It is said that food cooked with love are the tastiest. But often people forget about passion. Once you hear Chef Sambit speak about these exquisite creations in this establishment one can understand the relevance. The hardwork and passion behind the menu and the ambience is very much evident. Each and every dish are delicious and hold certain sublime characteristics. And for that The Saffron Tree certainly deserves the highest accolades. In the end, my expectations were exceeded in all frontiers.
