Darao pothik bor is one of the best multi cuisine restaurant near dumdum station . The interiors and ambience of this restaurant is just amazing. This place is very spacious and can accommodate 50-60+ people at a time. This multicuisine restaurant is located just at a few minutes walk from dumdum metro or rail station and naturally very easy to access. One can opt for bus, train, metro to reach this place.Firstly their hospitality is something that needs a special mention and at the same time their hospitality will win your heart and will surely bring you back again and again. The interiors and ambience of this restaurant is just amazing. This place is very spacious and offers huge sitting area that can accommodate 50-60+ people at a time. With beautiful interiors decors, fully air conditioned , live tv and sothing Old Bengali Songs played in the background will give a nostalgic feeling. We started off with•Tandoori chicken: The presentation of this dish was totally unique and interesting at the same time. It was served over a small grill with burning charcoals that gave the chicken a smooky flavour and the dish was cooked to perfection along with the usual spices . The portion of this dish was something that amazed me. (Highly Recommended)• Crispy baby corn Soft, little spicy perfectly cooked baby corns again won my heart both in terms of its taste , quality and quantity.• Mixed hakka noodles: The first thing that need to be mentioned about this dish is again the quantity served. This hakka noodles had ample amount of chicken pieces , prawns , eggs and veggies. Honestly it tasted superbbb.•Kung pao chicken: This side dish again came up with a huge portion. The Kung pao chicken had small pieces of chicken , cashew nuts ,peppers and stir fried onions . It had exact amount of spices and sweetness and the chicken pieces cooked to perfection tasted genuinely great.Ended the lunch with•Fried Ice Cream: This dessert is made with scoop of mango ice cream and the outlayer was made with a cotation of breadcrumbs and then deep fried. The hot and cold combination of this dessert was a show stopper. So you’ll hardly find out such a multicuisine restaurant that will serve you such delectable dishes with this huge portions at a very affordable rate. Don’t wait and just give this place a visit asap and enjoy their delicacies.
Located on Dum Dum Road this place is perfect for dining with your loved ones. I was really impressed by their hospitality and ambience. They have managed the space inside very well. We ordered,1. Tandoori Chicken – Recommended! One portion consists of one whole chicken cut in 4 parts, grilled to perfection and served on a live tandoor with salad and green chutney. The chicken was perfectly marinated and roasted. A must try!2. Mixed Hakka Noodles – Recommended! One of the most filling bowls of noodles I’ve had in a long time. It had very generous quantities of veggies, chicken bits and large prawns. Quantity is enough for 2 people.3. Hunan Chicken – Balls of chicken served in a Hunan gravy, perfectly paired with the noodles. The sauce was balanced and not too salty.4. Fried Ice cream- Ended the perfect meal with this. They used Mango Ice Cream instead of plain vanilla which was indeed a nice twist.I am highly impressed by their service and will visit again soon.
Yesterday i visited Darao Pothik Bor restaurant with my friends. This located 5 min walking distance from damdam metro/railway Station. Its eye pleasing ambiance and the courteous staff will surely attract the pothik bors ( travelers ) as the nane suggests. I loved their hospitality a lot.Right from entering the restaurant till the time of leaving you will definitely overwhelmed! Now coming to the food we started off with my all time favorite starter -Chicken Tandoori- Well marinated, soft from inside, Portion was quite goodCrispy Baby Corn – Quantity was enough for a group to share. Had a Perfect crunch from outside , sweet from inside ,spicy pan fried from outside!Spicy Cheme Fish – This was totally awesome. The fish was mouthmelting and the creme gravy enhanced the fish very well. Now coming to the mains we tried their both Chinese and indian Cuisine which came out to be very satisfactory for me. In chinese we tried their mixed hakka noodles and kung pao chicken. Its a very authentic combination and yes the quality and the quantity of the foods was commendable. In indian we had their Special Murgh Biriyani that consists of two big pieces of chicken,Aloo ,egg..served with raita was totally a bliss. Along with the biriyani we had their DPB special Dakbanglow that comprises of two piece of mutton, two piece of chicken, two piece aloo and two piece egg. Its a complete dish itself which will definitely kick your taste buds to have more..!We also tried two mocktails-Aampanna & curry patta shocker and Tangy mandarin kaffir lime. Both the mocktails were refreshing and Flavorful. Finally ended with a sweet note by having Their fried ice cream. This was a bit different from other restaurants which i had before. Thin Fried Crumbs filled with Delicious mango flavored ice cream. I specially liked this fried ice a lot..overall had a great experience..will visit here soon again!!!RegardsAritree Sarkar
Things I learnt from my visit to Darao Pothik Bor:1. Hospitality can never make up for the lack in taste of food.2. There is a hell and heaven difference between a 4 pointer rating restaurant of Dumdum and the same at Newtown-Saltake/ South Kolkata.Darao Pothik Bor is the only restaurant in Dumdum which has been the highlight of Dumdum since it’s inauguration few years back. I always dismissed this as I somehow had a feeling that looks can be deception. After years of ignoring it, I finally gave in to one of my friend’s plea to give it a try. He was all praises regarding their food and especially their hospitality. In terms of hospitality, they deserve a 10/10.We were greeted at the door and then again at the seating. The staffs were very attentive. It was lovely to get a hand sanitizer at every table. The space is little but the decor is wonderful. We ordered their signature dish Chicken Wrapped Prawns and Fish Malai Kebab as starters. And I must say I was hugely disappointed by both.I believe you can judge a restaurant just by their starters and desserts. This is where Darao Pothik Bor failed miserably! The fish tasted like Silver Carp, was fatty, fresh and the meat was very flaky and tender. But what annoyed me is that there was hardly any malai in Malai Kebab. I am used to tonnes of Malai/cream in my kebabs like the ones served in Kareem’s or Spicekraft. That was the whole point of ordering malai items. If the price had been less, I probably wouldn’t have complained. But the price is same as Kareem’s but taste is not even close. Now comes the signature dish – Chicken Wrapped Prawns. The concept is like that of Bacon wrapped Chicken. Thin strips of chicken are wrapped around Prawns and then fried and tossed with veggies. My friend said that the quality of this dish has deteriorated drastically. The strips used to be thinner and the prawn used to be softer. I found the prawn was pretty stiff. And the chicken cover tastes like bbq wings. The dish is super spicy. Also, this starter isn’t for 2 people. Only order this if you are a group of 3 or more or you will have to skip main course like us.Since I was tearing up from the spiciness, I ordered a Chatpata CocumRita and Hazelnut Tini. Both failed to impress me. Hazelnut Tini tasted like that of a Chocolate Milkshake. Nothing special. Looks can indeed be deceptive.Even after poor experience with the food taste, we wanted to give a last try. We ordered the exorbitantly priced fried ice cream. Received it in a couple of minutes. The coating had hint of Taaler Bora and the flavour used was a complimenting Mango. Since we aren’t huge fan of Mango flavour, we ordered a second one with Vanilla scoop. That was a blunder. The coating tasted awful with Vanilla making me realise why their default flavour is Mango. Quality of the ice cream used was very good owning to its rich creamy texture & flavour.I would urge the restaurant to drop the Taaler Bora from the coating, make it thicker and crispier and serve it with Vanilla topped with Raspberry sauce in addition to Chocolate Sauce.I generally visit every 4 pointer restaurant a second time to complete my wishlist but I think I would gladly give this a miss.Total bill for 2 was around 1500 which is quite expensive owning to the fact we didn’t even touch main course.Special Mention: Hospitality of the owner himself who almost offered me a juice to help me combat the spiciness.Fish Malai Kebab: ⭐⭐⭐Chicken Wrapped Prawns: ⭐⭐Hazelnut Tini: ⭐⭐⭐Chatpata Cucumrita: ⭐Fried Ice Cream (Mango): ⭐⭐⭐Fried Ice Cream (Vanilla): ⭐Hospitality: 5/5Presentation: 5/5Ambiance: 5/5Value for money: 3/5Taste: 2/5Location: 4/5
Went to this place last week with my friends. This place is situated in ghughudanga, dum dum road. The ambience was pretty good. They welcomed us with a warm smile. The staffs were very helpful and friendly. We orderedMalai paneer tikkiSultani pulaoRara chickenChef’s special dessertAll the items were super yummy. Malai paneer tikki was awesome. My favorite items are rara chicken and malai paneer tikki. We had a great time here.Do visit this place.
A location, which has been deprived of any decent place to sit and eat, this multi-cuisine restaurant is a welcome change. It has two floors with the upper floor having more number of covers. The long glass facade gives an open and vibrant feeling. The menu is mostly Chinese, Thai, North Indian, South Indian, Mughlai and some Bengali dishes. Recommended starters :Tandoori Whole BhetkiMalai Paneer TikkiFrom the main course I loved their Sultani Pulao and Rara ChickenCommendable quality and quantity of food, each item is sufficient for four heads. Very much pocket friendly that attracts alot of family crowd. One can pre-book the restaurant space for events, and they have various buffet menu options for such occasions.
