Visited this place along with friends to try out Bengali cuisine. As you enter the restaurant it will give you a “zamindaar sahebiyana” type feeling. Coming to the food part we ordered “dhania chicken” as starters followed by “dab chingri”, “kacha lonka mutton”, “thakur barir pulao”, “basanti pulao” as main course and “crispy gajar halwa” as a dessert. As fas as the rating is concerned the restaurant stood upto it. Though the mutton was little bit spicy but tasted fabulous. Pulao was not much sticky and was delicious. Little bit disappointed with Dab chingri but it was not that bad, expectation was much more. Preparation, presentation and taste wise “crispy gajar halwa” stole the limelight. For all the Bengali cuisine lovers, this restaurant deserves a visit atleast once.

Had been in my bookmarks for quite some time and so grabbed the opportunity when my very dear friend decided to give his birthday treat in Baraanda. The restaurant is located inside the bylanes of Southern Ave so had to rely on google map. The place is not that big,can accomodate maybe around 20-25 people. The place is well decorated giving a feel of old zamindari houses. Lovely chandier hung from the ceiling eith old fashioned hand pulled ceiling fan. The staff were really polite and courteous. Soft instrumental bengali songs were playing in the background. The ambience was just fantastic. We ordered☑️ Aam Pora Sherbat – This was just like ordinary Jaljeera sherbat nothing special. Did not fancy this very much.☑️ Gondhoraj Lassi – This was a star. The drink was so so refreshing. Had the flavour of gandhraj lebu which felt really good. Absolutely loved it.☑️ Fish Cordon Bleu – This resembles our very well acquianted fish fry with cheese and mushroom filling. Tasted good but a lot more overpriced which was a downer.☑️ Pur Bhora Doi Potol – A big potol was halved and stuffed with coconut and potato. The gravy was really tasty but I mean really a single potol halved, not expected. Introducing another potol which may have costed about maybe ₹5 would not have been that bad.☑️ Thakurbarir Polau – Aromatic polau with ample amount of ghee served in metal pots was excuisite. Looked as if the amount would not be sufficient but trust me we both were full. Very much recommended.☑️ Daab Chingri – Served in a full coconut shell. The gravy tasted similar to malaikari only the gravy being little thin. 4pcs of medium sized prawn which I think could have been a little larger. But no complain as such.☑️Kasha Mangsho – This tasted really good. Good amount of gravy enough pieces of mutton made it just stand out. The mutton was well cooked and very soft. It complemented Thakurbarir polau just perfectly. The overall experience was very satisfying with minor glitches. Used zomato gold on the order so saved a few extra bucjs in the process.Definitely recommended for all Bengali Cuisine lovers.

After hearing a lot about this place, I finally paid here a visit. I must say, the ambience was amazing. They tried to create an old Bangali Rajbari feeling and they aced at it. They even played classic Bengali songs and the staffs were courteous and welcoming. Coming to food, I tried:Bhetki PaturiDaab chingriSteamed riceThe prices were reasonable and the quantity was sufficient for two. However, I was a bit disappointed by the Daab Chingri. It had 4 medium sized headless prawns which I felt wasn’t worth the pay. Otherwise the paturi, their ambience and hospitality deserves a mention. Would definitely like to visit again!

What a rustic feel this restaurant has to it . I enjoyed being there with old Bengal charm and soft evergreen Bengali songs playing in the background. The staffs were very particular about your every need even before you think about it. Even then it didn’t feel like they were a bother. I am very pleased with the service. Food was definitely delicious! It’s worth a visit.

Went there on 2nd Oct & had to wait 40 mins even at 4 pm. Inside, the decor is elegant & reminds us of a time gone by. The service was very good & fast. The gondhoraj fried chicken, thakurbarir polao, kosha mutton, chingri & baked chomchom – all items were excellent. My fav was the mutton. The Zomato gold helped make this not only a brilliant lunch but also a reasonably priced one. Highly recommended
