I have been visiting this place since my childhood with my mom..This is a very old restaurant/Eatery located on a busy Gariahat more, 1st floor, beside Basundhara..The place, itself, is not much to look at.. Not really shining like all the other new-age restaurants..Has no A.C., a bit shabby.. but they used to serve some really good Kabirajis and Moghlai Parathas, along with other Indian fries..During my last visit here, the place was same, more or less, I wonder why the owner doesn’t take any initiative to recreate or renovate the place..The place could do with some interior designing, as well as a few minor-major changes, as well! The food quality according to me was way better before, this time I was a bit dissatisfied, with their chinese..I also ordered Fish Kabiraji, which was okayish.. Anyway they need to improve that as well .. Because I have so many memories here, I hate to see this place go down like this! Please come back with better service and food, ASAP!
It’s one of the oldest outlets in this locality. I have been here since my childhood and always liked the food. But decoration and ambience is nothing in comparison to modern restaurants. I don’t know why they don’t upgrade themselves. Anyway, I am rating them 5 as because I have made an emotional attachment with this place and because their kabiraji is something so beckoning.
On a cloudy afternoon followed by a roam at Gariahat, this place was nearby. Had been hearing about this place for quite a while now. Took Mughlai Parathas. Too oily, tastes average. Pretty much filling. Ambience is of 80s. Soft old songs will fill your ears. Costs Rs 120! And for what? An average taste, okish filling in the paratha, no AC, GST, too tough to be in on sunny days. Simply overpriced. There are better places around who can get you a lot better at this price or even at less prices with AC. Unless you have an attachment or too precious memories with this place, it’s no use coming here without an emergency.
This restaurant is located at perhaps one of the most prime positions of Gariahat . The restaurant is located on the 1st floor , so you have to take the stairs ..This restaurant has a very typical ‘old bengali cabin’ type look . The décor and the ambience does add up to that feel . There are cabins on the left and tables on the right . There is no extra charge to sit in the cabins ..We ordered Mughlai paratha and mutton kasha combo and fish fry . We had to wait for about 15 mins before our food arrived . .The fish fry was served with a sunny side styled egg on top . I felt the combination was good . Though the taste was very generic . The batter was okay an the fish was good . The egg lacked salt so I had to add it a bit . The Mughlai paratha was good . It was crispy and well fried . It had egg and chicken pieces inside and it tasted really good . But the aloo sabji served with it was horrible . It has no taste , not even a bit of salt was there , just felt like boiled potatoes which were yellow in colour . The mutton kasha tasted good , especially the gravy , but the salt was in excess . But was really disappointed with the mutton piece . It was a single piece that too not much big in size and it was mostly bone . I expected more considering the price ..Overall it was a very average experience . This joint is good for someone who wants to have a decent meal in a budget . But if anyone wants to have something worth visiting again , this is definitely not the place . I suggest the restaurant should level up its food quality , otherwise , it might just fell short against other joints in this locality .
Utterly disappointed. We tried their chicken kabiraji which costs 160 rupees but it tasted horrible. The meat was reddish and the food tasted sour, don’t know why. They should look after this matter orelse they’ll be losing customers.
Visiting this place for a long time mostly during my visit to gariahat market. Haven’t seen this place change a lot , must say a bit. Everything is as it was, even the price have only gone up a bit which is not recognizable. It have normal tables for 6 and cabins for 4. Doesn’t add any extra tax. Can’t say about any other food item because everytime I have visited this place I’ve only gone for soups which are of really good quality and quantity.
I have eaten here a number of times since my childhood. Then came a long gap.Visited after a long time and was thoroughly disappointed. The rate has gone too high, but the food quality is not good.I ordered Mughlai paratha.Once upon a time Purbani’s mughlai paratha was famous. But now, sadly it has degraded.Really felt sad
