Yesterday I was in Esplanade so I thought I will drop by this place for lunch. This place is a bit tricky to find. As per Zomato, this place is in the new market area so I started searching from new market and ended up finding it in Park Street. It’s in the ground floor of Oriental hotel in Marquis Street. And yes the locality is very crowded. If you are having trouble finding this place give a call to the restaurant, they are helpful and they will guide you.The interior is clean and quiet big with air conditioning, no decor as such but that doesn’t matter as no-one is expecting one.Coming to the food.I ordered Rice with :-1. Muri Ghanto2. Kachu Chingri3. Lote Varta4. Chingri Varta5. Pabda Fish1. Muri Ghanto, was good. It was very dense and mildly spice, but had lot of whole green chillies in it. You will get a half of fish head. They gravy is smooth and silky.2. Kachu Chingri, I had this dish for the first time in my life so it’s a bit tricky to judge. Its made with heaps of mustard pase kachu leaf and and a lot of shrimps. This dish has a kick to it. The mustard hits back in the back of your throat and you might feel a bit of burning sensation in your mouth and throat if you try to gulp it down fast.3. Lote Varta, I like lote fish and this was made to my perfection. It’s made with onions, chillies, ginger garlic paste and other Bengali spices. It’s a spicy dish that I am sure everyone will like.4.Chingri Varta, straight of the bat I didn’t like it. It was peculiar in taste, you can smell and taste Chingri but in a bit fermented way. It felt like some of the spices are missing, I think it would have tasted great with sorsa and lonka bata with julien onions and a slice of gandharaj labu. I guess it’s an acquired taste.5. Pabda Fish cury. Pabda is a delicate fish. You have to be careful not to over fry it or over boil it if you do so then the fish become a bit hard and rubbery. And this guys just did that. The cury was watery and didn’t taste good. The staffs are friendly and the service is super fast. The restaurant is very economical. I ordered all of this and a cold drink and my entire bill was still less than ₹400.

Located in Marquis Street, it’s a decent place for bengali foods.Tried their saak Chingri with daal.Saak Chingri could be better,Musur daal was tasteful with the rice.Looking forward to try their other dishes too.

Have been to this place off late. They serve really good Bengali food at this price. The food was pretty good and hygienic. What I ordered was Shop Mach, Pabda Mach, Rui mach. An array of different Bhajis, Rice, Dal.Being away from home and yearning for proper Bengali food at low price, then this is the place to be.
