Today we were roaming around St.Paul Cathedral & Victoria Memorial. The obvious & first priority for a bengali will be pure bengali food. So, our target was ‘Kasturi’ but there is a tremendous load around 3.00pm & we are frustrated with our hunger. Our return journey was scheduled howrah from 5.30pm. So, without having any option we try here. This resturant too, jostled with Bangladeshi crowd like ‘The Bhoj Company’ and suddenly we have a mixed feeling about being a foreigner here. We are the only indian there except some staffs.Food: It’s overall not bad. It’s fair from quantitive point of view but from qualitative it’s not with respect to price. Never take polao here, it’s worst. You can try Malaikari of Lobster (চিংড়ির মালাইকারি) , Mutton Kosa etc. Lots of item like curd , chutney, sukto(সুক্তো), muri ghonto (মুড়ি ঘন্ট) were absent for today. They use some ordinary quality mineral water ( not bisleri or Aquafina or kinley) but charge is ₹20/bottle. For food the rating is 2/5. You can try aluposto (আলুপোস্ত) here but it’s too spicy and oily.Ambience: It’s poor. 1/5 (1for AC only, not a seat for 5 person).Staff behavior: Good 2/5. We reached there in a peak hour so it’s natural that our order will consume the time.Other Factors: Considering other factors (like availability of existing menu, seat arrangement etc.) 2/5.Total – 7Average – 2(approx)

It is situated near Sudder Street, adjacent to Prince, but sadly lacked the expected footfall. When we went there in the morning, it bore a deserted look…I’m not sure why. The food certainly cannot be the reason, because the bhooni khichuri served here is preferable to that of its more illustrious neighbour. Both places team the khichuri with a fried egg.

This restaurant specializes on East Bengal cuisine. The food is simple but taste wise it is very good. Don’t expect any fancy setting round here.

Decent service, decent food . Prices are ok considering it’s proximity to tourist area. Crowded for most of the day. Ambience was ok but not apt for fine dining

This restaurant located in New Market Area specializes in Bangladeshi cuisine.I got myself one of their most popular dishes-Murgh Polau : Not really the most appetizing to look at. But the taste was not bad. Rice was light and easy on stomach, chicken was nicely cooked. But definitely I have tried better polau elsewhere.Pocket pinch is low. Give this place a try if you love Bangladeshi food, especially in a budget.

Located at mirza galib street to be more precise. This place serves simple but tasty Bengali delicacies. Last week my brother and I had gone there for lunch after our shopping spree. We ordered rice, mutton curry, fries, dal, murg polao and a coke! Food was humble but tasty. I would definitely go back just for their mutton curry. It tasted like home! I didn’t find anything special in their murg polao. It was basically just a plate of polao and a piece of chicken chaap on top of it! The ambience was decent, nothing to brag about. Their service was quick and the waiters were friendly and sweet. I was surprised by their pricing. It was inclusive taxes! If u want to enjoy a good homely Bengali meal after a tiring shopping spree in new market, then this is the place for you to go to.
