Choi Jhal Kitchen is one of the new eating house in Barrackpore area, and heard that the food is good, specially the Choi Jhal items. Choi Jhal is a kind of herb producing chilly flavour. Their Choi Jhal Mutton has killer blackish gravy and tastes really good. But on my latest order, this item seems to be loosing its charm. The gravy is not adequate enough for eating with rice. The biriyani is another good item, but taste wise it’s bit dry. The mutton piece is quite big, and rice portion is more than one person.

The rice is on the spicier side, but the chicken was tender (which I think is not that much of a challenge). The quantity is very good. So, over all, the experience was not bad.1. Good quantity2. A fairly big piece of chicken3. Spicy rice4. Fairly pricedNow, coming to the Choi Jhal MuttonI ordered four pieces, which are not that big (probably 35g each). Definitely not your conventional mutton kosha. The gravy is dark in colour, probably for using the herbs (Choi Jhal).1. Moderate to low on spice2. Pieces were tender but don’t expect them to melt in your mouth3. Standard price4. Definitely not your conventional mutton kosha5. Surprisingly light on tummy (though it has only been 20 mins after I ate the dish)Verdict- biriyani is average. Choi Jhal kosha is a new dish to our taste buds, so you should try.

Delicious food..good experience
I have read the reviews and decided to order food from this newly brought restaurant in barrackpore. Surprisingly the food quality is pretty good in compare to other similar restaurants in the locality. And they serve in a very nice quantity also. Overall a very good experience. Recommended by me. You can just order once and experience the taste.
