Used to come here for morning breakfast once, but stopped for hygiene reasons. Although the food tastes good, the place really looks shady to say the least.
This is an iconic place just in the centre of Ripon street. Once this was the famous Hero Hotel of Ripon Street which became Azizia and then now known as Beeru’s. Though there have been change in guard, the food quality and taste remains unchanged. When you visit this place on Winter mornings, expect the best nihari. The nihari is thick and the meat is tender and succelent after the hours of slow cooking it has gone through. During Ramzan, it’s their haleem. But what’s quintessential about Beeru’s is the Beef Chaap and the Sukha Bhuna. The beef Chaap is high on taste and quality and the best which you could get in Kolkata. The Sukha Bhuna gives the restaurants near tipu sultan mosque a run for their money. Drop in in the evenings and you may be surprised by their Pyaaz Gosht or their Hands Kabab. Visit Beeru’s and you will go home satiated and rich.
Beeru’s Restaurant is the typical example of how a certain section of society avoid innovation. Despite having such good quality food, they tend to even do minor renovation which would make dining here a breeze. However, looking at the quality of regular customers, I cannot really blame them.I really loved the beef delicacies here, particularly beef bhuna which I would like anyone visiting here to try. The prices was quite cheap and hospitality is okayish, if not bad!
Lovely food, 75 year old restaurant in mughalai foods love to come every time missing nehari and payai during summer time all the best and keep the food authentic
Although, I had came to know about this place almost two years ago – somehow didn’t manage to visit the same untill a couple of days ago.. Walked in with high expectations but unfortunately the experience was nothing out of the world in terms of food..Nothing much to talk about decor or service bcz these are those age old joints which one visits with a sole purpose – to enjoy the food on offer at an unbelievably economical price range..BEEF CHAAP & TANDOORI ROTI: This place is best known for Beef Chaap and it’s not bad at all but for me the Beef Chaap at Bombay hotel is far better than this one.. For me, this was more like a Pasanda (slightly on the sweeter side) than a Chaap.. The Tandoori roti was super soft and fluffy as expected..BEEF BHUNA: If one really needs to visit this place – that should be for this one delicacy only – served spicy & hot with chunks of beef – this one is a delight to any tastebuds – reminds you of the Mutton Kasha of Golbaari (in it’s glory days)..They also serve the Beef Nehari & Mutton Paya during winters but I would rather stick to Sufia & Shiraaz respectively for the same instead..Journey of an Epicurean Cine Trotter continues..My journey can also be tracked via http://www.instagram.com/epicureancinetrotterBy the way, have you joined Kolkata Food Trotters on FACEBOOK yet??
Unveiling the breakfast story of the legendary eatery Beerus Restaurant, Ripon Street, Kolkata that is sure to fling your taste buds with its beef delicacies.IN FRAME -Beef Nihari -Hearty one-pot beef stew mainly shanks meat steamed overnight to break your fast on a winter morning. Must try with lemon, minced green chillis, coriander to get into the depth of the flavour coming from bone marrow and richness of the spices. Served with hot fluffy Indian bread or roti.Beef Chaap -Ultimate Mughlai delicacy that every meat lover dies for. Thin slices of lean beef marinated in a nutty rich marinade, with that fatty oil oozing from its side and slow cooked in its own juices, to give that deep flavour intact. Served with hot puri. pamelanandi.wordpress.com
This is a shack on Ripon Street that looks shady but serves some terrific food.First up, the Sukha Bhuna. Tender meat in a terrific dry masala which is so drool-worthy that I promptly ordered another plate. The chaap is also excellent. We paired all this with soft, piping hot chapatis. There was also geela bhuna (bhuna in gravy) and paya at that time, which was 10ish at night. All this came for 130 bucks, which is dirt-cheap.If you are unsure of this place based on it’s appearance, get the stuff packed and give it a go.
