K. C. Das one of the renowned sweet shops in Kolkata, have begun to serve people ill health. Today I ordered a bottle of Sprite and they gave me an 2 month expired bottle and on being questioned they answer back inappropriately. Along with improper food items their hospitality is also absolutely rubbish. This is what is there, behind the brand name.
An absolutely distasteful and disappointing experience from the so called pioneers in the sweet making business. The place is clumsy and the air conditioner doesn’t work, giving an abominable outlook. The Rasogolla was spongy and had a tangy taste, probably because it was soiled and the Jalbhara was completely dry. The only saving grace was the Choco Kadam, which was a chocolicious version of the Kheer Kadam. All the sweets were overpriced just because they were being sold by the name of the great Nobin Chandra Das. The employees were arrogant and had no etiquettes whatsoever plus they didn’t have a provision for a dustbin inside the shop, making the vicinity of the store an easy target for a swamp of flies.
I had a take away from this epic sweet maker on 07-sep-2019.When I peeped from outside, the decorations looked quite posh etc.But when I entered, the AC was off (or not working! I am not sure which out of these two). And only one gentleman at the counter watching game on television & matching ledger probably. My queries were heard after at least I repeated thrice (!) & was responded with not-so-welcoming manner.I chose to go for Rasomaloncho & ladycani – they were packed & served well!N after i returned home & while savouring – to the entire family’s utter surprise, the Rasomaloncho was having sour taste – as if a few day’s old! This was not expected from a brand like ‘Nabin chandra das’!My guess is – because the sweet shop did not have an air conditioned interior, such delucate sweets went off.Besides, all other sweet makers provode the carry bag free of charge, but here they charged Rs. 4 – which we the bengalis of traditional North kolkata cant even imagine (buying sweet & we have to buy carry bag seperately!)The overall experience was not at all satisfactory though!
If you are sweet lover specially bengali Rosogolla then I must say this destination for you.Nabin chandra das is the first person who has invented Rosogolla. This place is famous for their huge variety of sweets.I order rosogolla from this place which was really tasty and delicious as per the brand name, but shop is very clumsy.
One of the best place to visit with your familyIts a historic placeNice ambienceThe place is also air conditonThe staffs are well behaved
Worst ever experience at this place. I got 15 PCs of cham cham for an unwell cousin and when we ate it, they were STALE. Yes, it didn’t smell but had a tangy taste and no one was able to eat it. My little cousin almost puked after having 2 bites of the same. Wish to take away the stars, if that’s possible. The savouries are playing though. Choose this place at your own risk.P.S. – They should have only stuck to rosogullas, as they just can’t manage any other sweet, and I’m sure we all have had better rosogullas than theirs.
