Horrendous ambience, very average food, exorbitant prices! That was my experience here. Be careful of the steep staircase that leads to the seating area. The only saving grace are the people who come here – always an interesting bunch, I say. Rest is avoidable.

Tired of having the same old spicy Indo-Chinese food again & again?Want to try something different more of a close to authentic chinese food with the feel of chinese household? Then any restaurant in Tangra ticks both the above questions with ease.Bengalis & Tangra chinese cuisine have been going hand in hand since ages & in this modern generation of experimental chinese food which majority of the time fails to live up to expectations, Tangra chinese surely comes as a much welcome change for chinese food fanatics. So we decided to head down to Tangra to relive some of the authentic taste of chinese preparation & zeroed in on Kim Fa due to its homeliness food preparation style.Location – This is located in close proximity to Namking(near end of the line of various restaurants). Its preferable to use Google maps.Decor & Ambience – The restaurant has 3 areas of sitting. Firstly on the ground if you have short group(2-3 max), secondly on first where you have further 2 areas for family(big groups can be slotted here). The looks & decor is very similar to a household but cleanliness is very well maintained.Food – The menu has got lots of variety to choose from. Please don’t be surprised with the pricing since the quantity of food is on the higher side for main course sides & starters. We had the following:-> Ginger fried fish – Battered dry fried starter made out of bhetki infused with coriander, lime zest and ginger. The dish had small bits of 15-16 pcs which were enough to suffice 4 people. Very well prepared & all the flavours made a great combo.> Mixed fried rice – We did not opt to experiment & hence went for a basic staple. The quantity was balanced for 2 medium apetite people. The rice had an authentic deep fried taste which is very uncommon in Indo-Chinese styled fried rice which made our taste buds happy.> Mixed hakka chowmein – Home made noodles prepared on a light tone with lots of vibrant green vegetables & adequate amounts of chicken bits & prawns. The dish was a bit high on oil content but the taste was spot on.> Sichuan Chicken – Bengalis favourite schezwan chicken which was served in sticky semi gravy style. We took a full plate of which had about 16 pcs of pure chicken pcs. The dish was mesmerizing to say the least. The spice factor was very light as compared to what we get in other places. The chicken pcs were too succulent. Really an enjoyable dish.N.B. All the mains are prepared with high content of onion. You can advice the order taker to exclude it if you are not fond of onion for the mains.Expense – 1 starter,1 chicken side main, 1 mixed chow, 2 mixed rice,2 cold drinks was billed about 1500 for 4 people which should be considered as dirt cheap per head.Final Verdict – A big thumbs up from us for the taste, experience. A very under rated place if you are trying to experience something new.

This place is a homely restaurant with awesome food. Price is competitive but there is no bar facility now. They only accept cash. Very good service and once again the food quality is very good. Must try this place.

The best chilli chicken in TangraNothing moreNothing lessOnce upon a time all of Tangra/Chinatown was like this. Great food/reasonable price/brisk service/bare interiors or no interiors just a round table and stoolsThank God that not all restaurants have gone the Beijing or Hot Wok village way .

Have been waiting here for the past 30 minutes. Called the waiter more than 10 times but no body responded. Food service is really bad and takes a lot of time. Couldn’t be more disappointed. Literally didn’t even want to give 1 as the rating. Also, major point. Unhygienic kitchen and service area.
