Anyone living in the Lake Gardens/Anwar Shah area knows this place. It’s a hole in the wall kind of place which makes affordable beef fare like rolls, biryanis, kababs, parathas and different beef gravies like chaap, bhuna, aloo gosht. Pocket friendly and quite tasty.
This place is located bang on Prince Anwar Shah Road and is a must visit for any beef lover, in my humble opinion. It’s very, very light on the pocket and the food served is in no way commensurate with the low price you pay for it. The rolls they serve here are as good as any I have ever had and I have been having these since I was a student at Jadavpur University. They are inexpensive and delightful. They also make very decent kebabs. On this particular trip after which I am penning a review, I had biriyani and bhuna. The biriyani was your typical Kolkata fare; fragrant, not too oily and finely done, containing the essential piece of potato and two very juicy and we’ll cooked pieces of beef. The amount that they served could have been more, though, but if you keep the price in mind, it was okay. The bhuna had several pieces of beef that was finely chopped and again, the taste was to my satisfaction. It was on the oilier side, but, again, the spiciness was on point, and the bowl of chillies left on the table added to the very good experience. Again, if you’re one of those people who are way too into fine dining, this place which is surrounded generally by a dirty ambiance and with a place to eat inside which is cramped and slightly grimy may not be for you, but if you’re one for good food regardless of the surroundings, at least up to a certain point, and, of course, are a beef fan like me, this is one place you should definitely check out. They start serving rolls at around 5 pm, if that helps.
This is the only place serving beef near my office. I find it very inconsistent about preparing food. Some day you can find the best kebab, buna and chap here. But some day their food can be very disappointing. The place is like a small take away joint. Seating arrangement is very okayish. Only office goers take the upper seating section during the lunch time. I prefer their kebab which is available only in the evening with lachha. Pocket friendly beef joint is only usp of this joint as this is the only place where you can find beef.
I have eaten here for over a decade as I used to live on Anwar Shah Rd. It was my go to place after office to pick up dinner regularly. Paratha Kebab and Chaap. And sometimes Sunday Lunch was the Beef Tikkia. Time to go back have not been there in a while.
situated at anwar shah road and n.s.c bose road crossing opposite site of Tipu Sultan Mosque. no sign bord no advertisement, but if you want good tasty beef biriyani then you can easily find it, tasty biryani 60rs, kabab 12rs, bhuna 35rs, beef roll 20rs. small place to sit, best for take away, not so clean. but nothing matter if you foodie,
Quite a good place at the entrance of prince anwar shaw road, especially for its beef items,do not go for ambiance but good food they serve here at very pocket friendly prices.P.S try sitting upstairs during evenings, its better
