THE POND is opening in Bali (Ubud) in July. It is a restaurant built and decorated with Balinese flair for energetic, vibrant colors, natural materials and classic colonial terra-cotta with a contemporary minimalist twist. Typically Balinese, it has a very open feel overlooking extensive rice fields and a large lotus pond. You can dine at tables or lounge on traditional mattress couches and observe part of the cycle of rice farming by day or lantern-lit eel searches by night (moonlight on rice paddies has a special magic).
