Was expecting a fuddy duddy ladies who lunch place but was pleasantly surprised. A really big, bright and modern dining room with loads of round tables, perfect for family dining. I had scallops to start, and He grilled prawns. Both Delish, meaty and fresh. For mains, He had steak and I, vension. Would have liked some veg to brighten up the plate but the meat was well cooked. Desserts were panacotta and a generous cheese plate which we wolfed down. Really good house wine also. Good spot for a family/ celebratory occasion.

I hadn’t been to the Gables in years, not since I was much younger going for breakfast with my parents. And recently I was here for a wine tasting and Tapas evening. The tapas were unreal. Cheese with honey on it was 100 times better then I could ever have imagined. I could not fault anything about the experience. The atmosphere in the place was great and the staff were so lovely and friendly. I cannot wait to return and try it for dinner and definitely for breakfast as from what I remember it was top notch.

Enjoyed a delicious brunch here at the weekend having found a brunch deal voucher online. The deal was brunch and a cocktail for two for €20. I had never been to The Gables and it definitely didn’t disappoint. Firstly the staff were so lovely and friendly which was lovely to be met with. We were given a menu with a nice selection of dishes – full irish, choice of eggs benedict, BLT, burgers, risotto and more. I opted for the eggs benedict with smoked salmon – I got my sauce on the side which I prefer to do! It was delicious and so was the Elderflower Cocktail that was included in the deal. The only thing I didn’t like was the bread the salmon was served on – it was more like a burger bun. The hollandaise sauce was delicious and lemony – just how I like it. My brunch buddy tried the BLT which comes with loads of bacon, lettuce, tomato, served in delicious bread and topped with an egg. That is also served with chips. It was a big portion which was great 🙂 I would highly recommend The Gables for brunch, there is lots of space and outdoor seating too with nice portions so you can kickstart your day the right way.
