My first visit to Oil Can Harry’s but it definitely won’t be my last. Popped in with a friend as the nearby 3fe was jammed. Classic Irish pub with a menu to match – I went for the ham and cheese toastie with chips. A generous amount of cheese and perfectly cooked chips made this a highlight on an otherwise windy and stormy day!
Close to Merrion Square and the canal, I’ve gone to Oil Can Harry’s many times where you always get a mammoth feed. Last time here I ordered a steak sandwich which came with strips of sirloin served with a mushroom an red onion sauce on top of a baguette along with chips and salad. They also have specials of the day which change from chicken voul au vents, to beef curry and numerous other hearty meals. They also do a decent club sandwich which I’m partial to. They also have a beer garden and Oil Can’s is a great place to watch a match. Several TV’s and the staff really take care of you when you come in with a large group. Oh, and they sometimes hand out free platters of snacks when you are in with a crowd having drinks. Donie O’Sullivan can attest to this!
