Not to be confused with the other Kavanagh’s directly across the Temple St junction (it has happened!), WJ Kavanagh’s is one of the best craft beer pubs in Dublin, with a huge and frequently-changing line-up, as well as some good cask options.  I’ve eaten here several times and the food is always right on the ball too.  It tends to be ‘simple’ food (burgers, curries, tagines) done really well, with a bit of a flourish.  It’s an oasis in what can otherwise sometimes be an unappealing stretch of road!

If you really like craft beers and good food then you will love this place. The staff are really knowledgeable and it is so great for someone living on the northside to have a bar that is different with its great selection of beers and yet so local friendly and non pretentious. I love great beers and appreciate the boom in the craft beer industry but I like that kavanaghs wears it’s heart on its sleave and whilst catering to the new and varied beer/cider palet it doesn’t forget that 1st and foremost it is a local bar where good beer good company and good food win out.Ticks all the boxes for me. Love this place and will keep coming back.

Good beer, good food, good atmosphere! I love the decor of this pub/restaurant. The food was great quality meat and delicious hand cut chips. Highly recommended – will be going back for more tomorrow night before we leave Dublin.
