I usually have no trouble with this pub but after my last visit I am never returning. I went in for the lunchtime student deal (as I do every week). After being served my food I went up to the cashier to pay, she was a woman with black hair. I took a second to put down my plate to take out my purse to pay and as I was done she quoted the more expensive price for the meal, as I went to say that I was a student and I’m getting the student deal, she began to shout at me that I didn’t say so and that next time that she’s charging me full price. She completely lost control and began cursing at me ‘this is ridiculous’, I couldn’t even say anything I was in complete shock. Honestly, having a bad day isn’t enough to treat anyone like that, especially when your in service. It completely upset me and ruin my day, this woman should not be allowed serve anyone if she handle the job.
It has been very handy for me and my colleagues to have a party on Fridays. But last Sunday I was so frustrated when didn’t find Steak Portuguese on the menu. Please bring it back again!!!
Go to college right next to there place so I’m here often enough. The drinks are reasonably priced and they have some good food and drink deals but the pizza in the deals can be kind of a hit and miss at times. There sIs an offlience attached which is pretty handy too.
Great food at a responsible price! I’d highly recommend the chicken stirfry or the vegetarian bean dish! Portions are generous without being overwhelming!
Bakers was basically my college bar because we didn’t have a bar on campus, so I don’t know if it is actually as homely as I think it is, or if I have a massive bias (either way, I love the place). The staff are really, really sound and seem like a family which is always nice. Drinks are cheap enough and the adjoining off-licence sells wine which you can get corked for a fiver and drink in the pub – handy for poor students when it’s too cold to drink outside (or in your own student gaff where the heating doesn’t really work). The food is similarly well-priced, the carvery is a great call but even the a la carte menu is pretty fair. Pub grub perhaps yeah, but delicious. The goats cheese bruschetta is unreal and a ridiculously large, filling meal for all the price of it. Would defo recommend to anyone passing by on the way to Dun Laoghaire.
