Gibneys is a well known spot for the locals of Malahide whether it’s having a few drinks with friends & family or simply enjoying the live music provided 4 nights a week. Despite the lively nightlife, it offers a great lunchtime deal which includes soup and a sandwich for €5. You can choose between two soups for example vegetable and seafood chowder. I opted for the vegetable soup which was delicious but would say it was very creamy so found it difficult to finish. You can choose between white or brown bread for your sandwich with a choice of 3 fillings. I decided to go for brown bread with chicken, stuffing and lettuce. Overall, I was very pleased with this lunch deal and would highly recommend it.
Popped in here in the week before Christmas and got a lovely seat beside the open fire up the front of the bar. This area of the bar is the perfect spot for a quiet drink and catch up with friends. A fine cheeseboard with a selection of 4 types of cheese only set me back 8 euro, which is excellent value for the generous servings I got. They serve their meat and cheese boards up to closing, so its handy if you find yourself a bit peckish after a few drinks!
Aside from being famous for a few drinks on a Saturday night, Gibneys has a pretty decent lunch menu. Such good value at €5 for soup and sandwich with 3 toppings. I chose the vegetable soup instead of tomato with a brown bread sandwich with chicken, lettuce and cheese. So pleasantly surprised was very filling for lunch and the soup was freshly made and really delicious! Will be popping in for lunch again for sure!!
Really nice place for a sunny day and some pub grub! Although the food wasn’t exceptional.. I got the scampai which in fairness was tasty but the steak ciabatta came out pretty cold. The burger was okay too. I would go back for a soup and sandwich as there deal is very good! Staff extra friendly and it’s in a gorgeous location too.
Been here for soup and sambo before for food was cheap and cheerful and staff are very friendly especially a lovely waitress called Sara. I’ve gone to Gibneys tonnes of times for drinks as there’s always a great buzz in the place with live music sometimes playing. It’s always packed and is the number one choice for locals. You’ll never have a bad night here.
