About
Romano opened in summer 2015, a restaurant-bar-lounge, by the Teder group alongside Eyal Shani and Shahar Segal, on the second floor of the Romano House, a historic building in south Tel Aviv. After two summers which Romano House was home for Teder and rediscovered as a magical urban gem, Romano was established. Similar to the scenario we've already experienced at the last location of the Teder which was reborn as Port Sa'id in 2012. Romano's menu was created by the brilliant mind of Eyal Shani. On one hand, it remains faithful to his cuisine language keeping a seasonal cuisine, fresh meticulous and local, which gives a lot of respect for the raw materials. On the other hand Shani extended the boundaries and generated new dishes which had already become a cult like blood sausages (with no drop of blood), pipe omelette and of course the french fries produced in three stages. Alongside these dishes you can find Shani's classics such as the Salon's Focaccia and the famous Melanesian from North Abraxas. In its inner space is located the open kitchen and next to it is the massive sound system which was built specifically for the place. The second space is located on the cozy terrace overlooking the Romano House's Yard. Romano's sound system was designed by Eldad Berman, sound engineer and acoustician, who with carefully chosen vintage equipment built an audio system which consists of a pair of huge custom made 3-way speakers and eight Amplifiers, including fifty year old lamp amps. The DJ booth also speaks the same language - analog and cozy, with two turntables and a mixer of the legendary "Bozak" family. The result is a precise and warm sound that emerges from the system and creates a living room listening experience, pleasant and exciting. Romano is open from Monday to Saturday (closed Sunday) from 18:00 until the last customer, at 23:00 the menu changes to a night menu which serves the drinkers and the city's night crawlers until the wee hours. The luxurious DJ booth hosts every evening the best DJs/ record collectors that the city has to offer, with random visits by international music selectors. Slowly awakes the entire Beit Romano area to life and beyond the restaurant/bar emerges various events - Special events at Romano's Yard - fairs, open air cinema, live shows and more - At the ground floor lies our Gallery which hosts exhibitions, sales, openings and special events. - The "Suzi" art complex on the 3rd floor is home to more than 20 artists and hosts a variety of events, for example the launch of Gilad Kahana's new album, which brought thousands of curious people to see Kahana's event-exhibition last September . - Art and music Studios of creative people keeps appearing around the compound.
