WHY "PURPLE SQUARE"? We the locals call the little square in front of our roastery "KIKAR SGULA". "SGULA" is a synonym for the Israelites. But also means purple. Hence our name: Purple Square. ABOUT US: We never were big believers in brands & branding, marketing & trademarks and the like. We started with coffee and only dealt with coffee. And suddenly we had a small franchise with several branches and had to deal with contracts, trademarks, branding and PR. Not what we really planned to do. With a franchise comes the need for uniformity to sell the same, consistent products again and again. That can get boring. But we always liked and still like to explore new things and to experiment with coffee. So we decided to make tabula rasa. At our PURPLE SQUARE coffee roastery at SGULA 15 we will go our own way - independent from CAFELIX and its branches - free to explore new grounds and to surprise with special changing coffee varieties. We roast on a roaster with a copper drum which gives our coffee its special sweetness. You can get this coffee only on spot at PURPLE SQUARE. We still produce the coffee for CAFELIX at our new roastery at TIRTSA 17. There we roast with a wood-fired roaster. This wood-fire roasted coffee can be bought at the new roastery or at the CAFELIX branches.
