Brancaccio is a place we’ve been to a lot. Part of it because they have a wide selection of vegetarian food, but mostly because the food is excellent. Most of the tables on the sidewalk and pleasant staff make for a tremendous experience. Every dish we ordered reached in what seemed like no time at all.Nothing fancy about the food here. It’s regular Italian food with what seems like incredibly simple ingredients and it all comes together to make for some exceptional dishes. The spaghetti pomodoro was good enough for me to have it twice in 3 days. It has been a long held belief of mine that only stuffed pasta is worth having since anyone can make the regular kind. The spaghetti here changed that belief with the first forkful.Pricing is reasonable though there were some places higher on the value for money meter nearby.Overall Conclusion: for a lazy early dinner this place is very hard to beat
I know my review is long, but you should read it:This restaurant was a serious miscalculation on my part. We were looking for somewhere to eat – nothing fancy, close to the condo that we’re staying in. Unfortunately, we picked Brancaccio. Because I have Crohn’s disease, I have a very limited diet (no lactose, gluten, or roughage – salads and the like). I asked our server, who spoke some of the best English that I have encountered in our week in Italy, what side I could have instead of salad; thankfully, she said that I could have boiled potatoes or fries. My boyfriend had penne with marinara sauce and the pork chop, which did come with a salad on the side. I suppose I can’t complain about the salad being less than impressive; however, my chicken was so dry that I had to say something. It was honestly worse than, or at least equivalent to, the chicken that I had eaten on the plane. I did eat some of it, as I was hungry, but I ended up sending it back. When the check came, I had been charged for BOTH the chicken and the fries. I had told her when I sent the chicken back – I should mention that she had offered to make me another, but I was very turned off – I did not mind paying for the fries. When the check came, I had been charged for BOTH the chicken and the fries. She argued with everyone at my table, telling my brother and sister in law that she would not talk to them. She argued with me about the side of fries, saying that she never told me I wouldn’t be charged for them (Why didn’t she tell me that when she told me that they could be my side?). After yelling at both my brother and sister in law, she told my boyfriend that she would take the chicken off because he was, unfortunately for him, with this old lady (we are all in our mid to late 20s and early 30s). I have never in my life, or my 10 years in customer service and sales, come across a server such as this.
