We vistid this place on a recommendation from the concierge at our hotel; we were looking for a place that had pasta for adults and pizza for the kids. My Spaghetti alla Pescatora was one of the best I had in our stay. The dishes did a good job of conveying the fresh taste of the ingredients.  Nice assortment of desserts, including a good chocolate mousse. Service was prompt, and friendly and did their best job to communicate in English. The location is just off Via Veneto. Given the surroundings, the prices were reasonable; not as expensive as the sidewalk trattorias, but not as cheap as you might find in other neighborhoods.

We stumbled across la Scala by change last night. It is a little hard to find but worth the effort. We rarely choose a set menu, but last night we took the risk. They offer a four course truffle menu at 35$ per head. It was delicious. They also often meat and fish set menus for less than €30. Service was friendly and wine prices reasonable for Rome. Only tourist eating before 8.30. After that mainly locals. It may be wise to book.

When I have a lovely dining experience, I have to share it on Zomato. This is a hidden gem in Rome. I didn’t get a reservation at a restaurant popular for truffles and I found this one instead. After a horrible experience a day before at a sidewalk trattoria, I was hopeful this will elevate my Rome trip. La Scala scores on all levels on the set menu, great taste, fresh ingredients and well portioned, good local wine, value for money and to top it, friendly and warm service. I enjoyed the mussels and the truffle pasta. Georgio, the host served with a smile, a rare trait in Rome and offered options to accommodate my special requests. I will surely visit it again with family.
