The appetizers were excellent, home-cured lard and polenta taragna, as well as abundant, so that after a first course of ravioli we literally could not go ahead with the meat – but I’ll take them on trust!
After a walk through the beautiful high city of Bergamo, the food in the Antica osteria, was the culmination of a magnificent day, in a city still not crowded with tourists.
A nice cosy rustic restaurant. Very good atmosphere and good service. The food is excellent and the home made grappa recommended by the owner is superb. Will go there again next time.
In Bergamo Alta, in Lombardia, you could find different restaurants. This outside of the ‘funicolare’, you could appreciate the tipical dishes: casoncelli and polenta taragna.
We ate lunch here and were clearly unimpressed. Can’t even remember what we ate but we were both disappointed with our choice. There are much better places in Bergamo Città Alta.
Authentic local cuisine, good wine and friendly service. What else do you expect if you want a good lunch?
