Pretty wide range of food options including sandwiches, pastries, pizzas available here. We had to have a meal before taking our train and this looked like an option to find vegetarian. We have classic margherita pizza with veggies and liked it. The place is a bit expensive than the local cafeterias you find in the city. Table charges are extra. Mc Donald’s next to it didn’t serve any vegetarian.
As a well travelled, but trustworthy and hungry tourist I mistakenly entered these premises anticipating the good faith and fairness I have encountered travelling across this great country. Without reviewing the menu, I ordered a plate of bolognese and 500 ml of Chianti. I was disappointed in the quality of the pasta. I was amazed when I received a bill at the close that totalled €44.00. This was comprised of the following:€2.00 – Wi-Fi access€22.00 – pasta€18.00 – vino€2.00 – service chargeI was not surprised when I attempted to pay by MasterCard and they advised cash only under the auspices of the machine being broken. When I refused to comply and indicated I was happy to wait for the machine to rectify it miraculously did so within 2 minutes. The transaction was deftly completed by the staff, albeit replete with Italian expletives. In hindsight, I completely understand why this establishment – just steps from Milano’s central station – is uninhabited late on a Friday afternoon. They may have extracted their €44.00 for an overpriced, uninspiring meal. My salve is that I used part of my €2.00 Wi-Fi impost to warn other travellers. Shame on them.
