About
The sign outside says Torrefazione Moderna (Coffee Roasters) and this lovely little 19th-century workshop, situated in one of the most characteristic corners of old Turin not far from the Town Hall, is effectively a popular cafeteria. It has been owned for 35 years by the Carit-Longo family, the new generation of which, in the person of Claudia Carit, is focusing on the selection of tea varieties from the worlds best growing areas, banking on small batches from trustworthy producers and seasonality. The shop stocks about 230 teas, blends, tisanes and infusions from China, India, Japan, Ceylon, Nepal, Thailand, Georgia, Turkey, Kenya and Tanzania, including green tea from the island of So Miguel, in the Azores, the only tea crop in Europe. Other rarities include organic Japanese black teas from Kawanabe and Yakushima. Purchases may be made online with deliveries all over Italy. The shop is open from 7am to 6pm every day except Sunday and on Saturday in afternoon in summer.
