About

It was in 1960 when Italian lira was named "Star currency of the year"; RAI broadcast "It's never too late", a literacy course for adults; Fellini's "La dolce vita" ("The sweet life") was shown in cinemas; and while several African states were declaring their independence from colonists, Kennedy was elected President of the USA. In the same year in Finale, a small village of Pollina district, unavoidable stop-over on the way from Palermo to Messina, the spouses Rosario Mastrandrea and Giuseppina Fesi, open their trattoria "Le Lanterne". In 1979 their son Giuseppe will join them. The trattoria has always been distinguished for the genuineness and the quality of its courses; seafood specialties have particularly make the little restaurant famous in all Sicily. After a three years break Giuseppe takes up again the reins of his trattoria, between tradition and innovation, together with the chef Gianfranco Panetta.
