The "Al Cancelletto" restaurant was born in the late 1950s, where the Calliandro and Semoletta families started their business by preparing very simple and typical dishes of the Sicilian tradition and selling bulk wine. It soon became the flagship venue for numerous university students and young Palermo artists such as Tot Bonanno, Maurilio Catalano and Aldo Pecoraino. Their tradition continues today at the hands of Giuseppe Calliandro's daughters, with their son-in-law Giuseppe Lo Nardo in the kitchen. For them, hospitality is sacred, whoever enters the restaurant will have to come out serene and satisfied, not because they prepare amazing dishes, but precisely because of their simplicity and authenticity. Quality catering should be this: the miracle of simplicity.
