While photographing doors I came across Bagpipe. A lovely cafe with interesting interior. Great place on a cold day. We enjoyed coffee and cocoa and cake. Served on fine china. Staff very pleasant. Restroom was immaculate. Highly recommend if your visiting Takayama.
Enjoyed coffee & cakes at Bagpipe. We ordered baked cheesecake, double chocolate cake and Japanese cake. They were all so yummy but our favorite was the baked cheesecake. The coffee was just as I like it. Very nice! ?
Wonderful place to stop by for a delicious cake and a fresh fruit juice. Here you can try the japanese cheesecake – fresh or baked – but also some salty dishes. Don’t miss it!
It was a hot day and we needed a pick me up. Stopped in and we felt like we were at an English Tea Shop! We had some dainty crust less sandwiches and beers, and a lovely cake for dessert.

I must admit that I was looking for a western type meal at this stage of the trip and being Canadian with some scottish blood – this tickled my fancy. The food was good and home made.
