About
For over 130 years, Endo has been welcoming guests to its restaurants on the historical and atmospheric streets of Gion, Kyoto. Originally founded as an ochaya teahouse where geisha would perform, we have honored that heritage and status while also continuing to innovate. Endo has embraced new styles and is always striving for new levels of culinary excellence. Just beyond the precincts of Kennin-ji, one of Japan's oldest Zen temples, our main restaurant lies hidden away on tranquil Yasaka-dori in the backstreets of Gion, overlooked auspiciously by Gojunoto Five-Storied Pagoda. Traditional Kyoto vegetables, wild herbs, fresh seafood from Wakasa Bay and the Seto Inland Sea, freshwater fish from the clear streams that run into Lake Biwa Enjoy Endo's legendary Kyoto-style tempura, prepared fresh to order with an ever-changing cornucopia of seasonal, local produce.
