This restaurant is Yoshoku-ya in Kyoto. Yoshoku( ) means Western (yo- ) dish (shoku- ) in Japanese, but not that simple like Americans and Europeans imagine. When Japanese say Yoshoku, it means the Japanese unique style of Western dish. Yoshoku-ya is the restaurant which serves Yoshoku and we developed own category of Japanese food since western culture was introduced to Japan
