Ginkakuji Sanmikouan location was the original residence of pioneer film director (Taisho era (1912-1926)~Showa era (1926-1989) Kinugasa Teinosuke, Taisho era (1912-1926)~Showa era (1926-1989), who was the first Japanese to be awarded the Cannes Film Festival grand prize. Artists are fixated by the cherry blossoms that line philosopers path in spring, the green tunnel the trees form over the river in the summer, the fall colors and winters snow landscape.
