Kisenba

About

Kisenba is a Japanese tea caf hidden away in a corner of Naras old town, Nara Machi, an area that exudes historical charm. In addition to the local Nara tea, you can enjoy Japanese tea that the owner has specially chosen from every part of the country. Green tea, gyokuro, matcha, roasted green tea and black tea are all available. Specially selected matcha is used to create the rich, creamy flavor of the soft serve ice cream and Grade A Koshihikari rice from the Tango area is used to make one of Kisenbas popular Japanese sweets, Mitarashi dango(Dango is a sweet sticky rice ball). Be sure and try one of these sweets with a delicious cup of Japanese tea. You can also experience the tea ceremony by stirring a cup of matcha in an extra-large Japanese teacup. To make your Japanese tea cultural experience even more memorable, we have a variety of books and magazines about Japanese tea and tea ceremony available at our shop. Feel free to pick one up and have a look inside.
