About
This building has been re-built over 200 years ago and the floor plan is three-room parallel, and it is an old-fashoned called Seigai Building which an unparalleled building. It features a steep roof with snowfall in mind and a sense of openness due to the absence of ceiling beams, and thanks to the thatched roof, the room can be kept warm winter and cool summer. It is a common architectural style in the Iya region where the Heike's fallen legends remain, and many houses are built in a style that continues from this late Heian period. It has been used as a Heike Folklore Museum after the re-location from East-Iya, but we had a strong thought that we want to leave this wonderful building for future generations, it was re-born as [Iya-Soba Momiji-Tei] since the West-West opened in 2004. Please relax and feel the continuing from the end of the Heian period to the present day, and feel a time of eternal while you staying.
