About

Tsukune Samurai Sakanoue is a yakitori izakaya (tavern) located in the backstreets of Shibuya Maruyamacho district. Tsukune means chicken meatball skewer, and Sakanoue means top-of-the-slope, as Sakanoue is literally at the top of Dogenzaka street. The restaurant serves all kinds of yakitori variations, especially their signature dish 'nama tsukune', which means freshly-made tsukune. Using fresh chicken delivered each morning, their chicken skewers promise the perfect blend of Japanese food and culture. Enjoy a variety of dishes with perfectly matched Japanese sake. In addition to their culinary delights, they often hold a live performance of either the ancient martial art 'Tenshinryu', or shodo (calligraphy), starting around 20:00. Get ready to experience a thrilling show of several fight scenes, something that certainly separates this house from any normal izakaya.
