One of the most fascinating hidden gems of Beirut, it holds the spirit of old Beirut, everything about the place is old and authentic, including the taste and recipes. It all started in 1890 as a small shack right behind the municipality of Beirut on Wegand street, later it in the 1930s the placed moved to a bigger place, then after the end of the war it moved to it’s current location. The place has won severan awards and has been recognized by world famous food shows and contests.Raji Kibbeh who is the grandson of the late Hajj Mahmoud Soussi who established the place still prepares food at the restaurant now. The man is super swift, fast, and very chatty!Food at Soussi is great, mainly the “Fatteh” along other dishes as well. But make sure you go there early as the place closes at around 2, and on 4 at rare occasions. The place is relatively cheap, around 3 to 4$ max / plate.
