Another very charming foodie meetup with a great group of people. I just love meeting food loving individuals who have different tastes and who are not ashamed to speak their minds. The restaurant is located at Le Gabriel Hotel, chic, elegant, refined, and cozy. We received a warm welcome upon arrival and were directed to our table. Service was truly 5 stars all throughout the entire evening. The professional and friendly staff made sure we were very relaxed and well taken care of. The signature Nicolas Audi restaurant however failed to live up to the reputation that comes with such a legionary culinary name. It didn’t disappoint, however, it failed to empress in anyway and failed to leave us with anything to talk about back home or to even make us come back. The food came in abundance. It had to be absolutely the most generous foodie meetup I’ve ever been to. That made us all very happy, since we’ve all had our share of similar events where we left hungry. Food taste ranged between acceptably average to shamefully bad. My absolute disappointment was the risotto. I’ve never had anything that ever tasted so bland and watery. Absolutely no flavor. The brisket open sandwich tasted off too. The “caramelized” onions were raw and added zero flavor. The salmon bruschetta needed anything citrusy to help elevate the taste. Quinoa salad was a little undercooked and was average in taste. The menu was not a disastrous and I did enjoy many of the dishes I tried. Crab spring rolls were absolutely heavenly. The best I’ve ever had in fact, ever. The steak, although laughably small in portion and presented in an archaic manner, was evidently a premium cut of meat that tasted superb. It was way over cooked yet the flavor of the meat was there. The lemon chicken with the ginger rice was out of this world good. I adored it. I’m an Indian food lover and although this dish distinctly nods to Indian cuisine, it was superb and well prepared. The star of the evening was the dessert. Although I don’t have a sweet tooth and was very full from the generous spread, I tried almost every single dessert offered. (Over 8 varieties). Every single dessert just sang and danced on my tongue and managed to end the meal on a very positive note. I believe that the food needs serious work and revision. Presentation is outdated and flavor is a flop. Some hit the right notes and some where a complete miss. I hope I’ll try this place sometime in the future again and I see some changes were made. It’s disappointing to see a big name like Nicolas Audi produce such an experience. azizzada.wordpress.com
Zomato invited me and some other foodie to a meetup at La verriere by Nicolas Audi at Sofitel Ashrafieh. It’s a fine dining restaurant but very relaxing. They have a cool terrace but we sat inside, which I guess is better during summer heat. The dinner was good but I was actually expecting more since it’s Chef Nicolas Audi. The items I really liked were the fresh crab salad and the tartine au saumon. The items I didn’t like were the risotto, that is watery and tasteless.. The steak also was over cooked!! Everything else was average. The desserts though was really really good.
An upscale dining experienceThe setting at la Verrière is surely an upscale one with professional table service. Not our first time at La Verrière , but a first under the management of Nicolas Audi.We were among a group of almost a dozen awesome people from the foodies community and would like to start the review by thanking la Verrière and Zomato for having us around. For this gathering we had a pre-set menu for the evening so we had:• Quinoa with smoked chicken : not fans of quinoa but this one tasted fair• Buffala mozzarella on melanzane , quite surprizing with broiled veggies (mainly eggplants) , still fine as an overall revisit• Crab and vegetable spring rolls: a very slight taste of crab as the proportion of crab to veggies needs to be fixed, however a perfect crunchiness and frying for this spring rill• Fresh crab and mango is all fine but what was really awesome is the Smoked salmon on a flat paysan bread, a load of avocado and a pure yum with capers (would come back for this btw)• Beef brisket with shopped onions: not the onions rather the beef here took our attention , maybe onions should be replaced or re-worked in a different way • Chicken with lemongrass sauce and ginger rice – just fine• Grilled Shrimps plate : very fair and very well presented• A mushroom Risotto: not the best one can have for sure , this plate lacked lot of taste and mushroom taste was still fade • Beef fillet and side wedges: an over-grilled portion although looking awesome when presented it was so dry on the tableWe ended the feast with a selection of Nicolas Audi’s finest desserts To wrap it up, La verriere by Nicolas Audi is a nice place to be , the Place suggests many revisited and so well presented dishes. Food is mainly good and quality of ingredients is at the top best however, a rapid review of some minor details should come across some dishes mainly when it comes to enhancing taste and adapting doneness of raw material.Coming back again ? We went yesterday to have dinner there, i usually love nicolas audi the food was below average with no taste. The steak was too cooked. You don t feel that there is nicolas audi touch in every plate. Nothing special about the presentation and taste. If you want to enjoy nicolas audi experience better to try it directly:)
