I was wondering when an African restaurant will open in Beirut, knowing the huge diaspora we have in the continent, I was delighted when I stumbled upon Pamai Chop, a colorful cozy shop nestled in the streets of Hamra. I knew that I had to have lunch there, and so I did, and what an experience it was!I ordered the Groundnut Stew, a super creamy peanut-based stew with generous portions of Chicken, the flavors were on point, the portion was more than generous, coupled with a plate of steamed white rice, and I didn’t have enough of it, so I had to order again and try (Hausa) – African grilled chicken and beef skewers generously smothered with spicy peanut marination, it was magnificent, the spice was on point, the meat was very tender and the sauce was just too good that I had to scrape the leftovers from my plate! To top it all off, this business is family owned managed by Mohamad and Abir, a lovely couple that used to live in West Africa that decided to come back to their homeland and share with us their passion for African cuisine! I will be back to try the other menu items, a MUST try!

Fantastic exotic african food with genuine flavour at Pamai Chop. Fufu is wonderful, thoroughly enjoyed yebbe and cassava leave stew. The arabic daily platter is a wonder too. A must place for food

Omg! Finally African food in Lebanon! Everything was delicious and authentic! I tried the Akkara as starters and for the main dish we had Cassava leaves stew, groundnut stew and fufu and green leaves stew! Everyth was on point and freshly cooked! It was a trip down memory lane! They also offered us amazing peanut butter cooking and they were awesome! I def recommend it!
