About

Mee Desa was founded by Tan Choon Hui. His grandfather, Tan Kim Yong, originated from China and settled in Rimba Terjun, a village located along Jalan Kukup in Pontian, and started manufacturing kway teow. For the last eighty years, Mee Desa has been hailed as "First in Pontian" and enjoys a good reputation in both Malaysia and Singapore, owing to the use of high quality ingredients. Tan Choon Hui's father, Tan Koon Seng, then developed wantan mee, which soon became a household favourite. Tan Choon Hui grew up by his father's side learning the family secret recipe in noodle preparation. On 1 April 1978, aged 17 then, he followed his uncle running a noodle stall via a tricycle pushcart on Jalan Taib. In October the same year, he started operating a food stall at Bamboo Kit Food Court. On 1 July 1991, he founded Mee Desa. With vast experience under his belt, he successfully developed some in-house specialty noodle dishes which include clay pot wantan mee, clay pot stewed mee, clay pot yee mee, clay pot tom yam mee, minced meat with mushroom mee, wantan mee, etc. In line with its tagline of "Stay Healthy with our Premium Ingredients that Create an Aroma", Mee Desa stays true to its unique family recipe, upholding its commitment to not using preservatives while ensuring the food served is of high quality.
