Taiwanese refreshing dessert comes to Kepong (North Kuala Lumpur), and it’s the perfect affordable place to have healthy (RM 7-10 per dessert), cooling and light dessert with a group of 2-3 people. Usually healthy conjures a rather unhappy grin, because desserts that are usually healthy don’t taste good. Trust me, the dessert here is seriously good, and it will satisfy the craving for something sweet. It is cooling like an ice cream, but without all that dense sugar and cream. Personal favorite? The Yam Fresh signature RM 7.90, which is basically a concoction of their house special herbal grass jelly, yam balls, fresh milk, shaved ice with gula melaka (palm sugar) served in a huge black bowl. The dessert could be shared between 2-3 people because it is pretty huge. The dessert is cold, has an icy texture from the shaved ice, a chewy texture from the yam ball, and the grass jelly is silky smooth. They also offer drinks such as green tea latte, glass of milk with grass jelly and so much more.The establishment provides FREE wifi, and it’s open from 11.30am to 12 in the evening, perfect for all day dessert. As for the service, they are friendly and fast; they don’t offer table service, its more of a self service place where you would order and get a buzzer/pager and you would pick up your dessert when the buzzer/pager buzzes. Desserts is usually ready within 2-3 minutes. Parking might be an issue, since the parking is pretty limited due to its located within a busy shop lot next to the Public Bank on Jalan Rimbunan Raya 1. I would recommend at night for a less stress time to find parking. Their seating is spacious, and could seat individuals and groups easily, perfect place to hangout with friends while in Kepong.
